Abstract

The present disclosure provides user interface methods of and systems for displaying at least one available action overlaid on an image, comprising displaying an image; selecting at least one action and assigning a ranking weight thereto based on at least one of (1) image content, (2) current device location, (3) location at which the image was taken, (4) date of capturing the image; (5) time of capturing the image; and (6) a user preference signature representing prior actions chosen by a user and content preferences learned about the user; and ranking the at least one action based on its assigned ranking weight.

Claims (41)

1. A method comprising:

generating for display a live image being captured by an image capture device of a user device;

generating for display a reticle overlaid on the live image;

identifying an object in the live image;

modifying the reticle to encompass the object;

retrieving a location stored in a memory of the user device;

automatically identifying, based on the object encompassed by the reticle and the retrieved location, a set of actions of different types from a plurality of actions for selection via a user interface, wherein at least one action of the set of actions of different types is an option to purchase an item associated with a physical store corresponding to the retrieved location; and

generating for display the set of actions to the user as selectable options.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein modifying the reticle further comprises graphically accentuating a perimeter of the object in response to identifying the object.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein identifying the object in the live image comprises identifying the object based on a proximity of the object to the reticle.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein identifying the object in the live image comprises identifying the object based on profile data of a user associated with the image capture device.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising ranking each of the set of actions based on a non-textual portion of the identified object, wherein generating for display the set of actions to the user as selectable options includes ordering the set of actions based on the ranking.

6. The method of claim 5 , further comprising:

storing the live image being captured by the image capture device to a memory along with data about at least one of a location of image capture device, a date at which the image was captured, and a time at which the image was captured at a first point in time; and

presenting the set of actions in an order based on the ranking at a second point in time after the first point in time.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising automatically identifying, based on the object and context relating to the live image being captured by the image capture device, the set of actions of different types.

8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the automatically identifying further comprises using at least one of a location of the image capture device and a location at which the live image was taken to augment the context relating to the live image.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein identifying the object further comprises comparing the live image being captured by the image capture device to a collection of at least one sample image to determine the object.

10. A system comprising:

a memory configured to store a location;

input/output circuitry configured to:

generate for display a live image being captured by an image capture device; and

generate for display a reticle overlaid on the live image; and

control circuitry configured to:

identify an object in the live image;

modify the reticle to encompass the object;

retrieve the location from the memory; and

automatically identify, based on the object encompassed by the reticle and the retrieved location, a set of actions of different types from a plurality of actions for subsequent selection via a user interface, wherein at least one action of the set of actions of different types is an option to purchase an item associated with a physical store corresponding to the retrieved location; and

wherein the input/output circuitry is further configured to generate for display the set of actions to the user as selectable options.

11. The system of claim 10 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to modify the reticle by graphically accentuating a perimeter of the object in response to identifying the object.

12. The system of claim 10 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to identify the object in the live image by identifying the object based on a proximity of the object to the reticle.

13. The system of claim 10 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to identify the object in the live image by identifying the object based on profile data of a user associated with the image capture device.

14. The system of claim 10 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to:

rank each of the set of actions based on a non-textual portion of the identified object of interest; and

generate for display the set of actions to the user as selectable options by ordering the set of actions based on the ranking.

15. The system of claim 14 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to:

store the live image being captured by the image capture device to a memory along with data about at least one of a location of the image capture device, a date at which the image was captured, and a time at which the image was captured at a first point in time; and

present the set of actions in an order based on the ranking at a second point in time after the first point in time.

16. The system of claim 10 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to automatically identify, based on the object and context relating to the live image being captured by the image capture device, the set of actions of different types.

17. The system of claim 16 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to automatically identify the set of actions by using at least one of a location of the image capture device and a location at which the live image was taken to augment the context relating to the live image.

18. The system of claim 10 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to identify the object by comparing the live image being captured by the image capture device to a collection of at least one sample image to determine the object.
