RECONFIGURING REMOTE CONTROL BEHAVIOR
Aspects of the disclosure relate to a remote control which may include one or more buttons configured to provide input to the remote control upon being activated, a transmitter for transmitting data, a receiver for receiving data, a processor and memory storing computer executable instructions that, when executed, cause the two-way remote control to perform a method for configuring repeat transmission behavior of one or more of the buttons of the two-way remote control. Further, the receiver may be configured to receive data from a device configured to be controlled by the remote control and the data may include instructions for configuring the repeat transmission behavior of the one or more buttons of the two-way remote control. Additionally, the two-way remote control may configure the repeat transmission behavior of the one or more buttons of the two-way remote control based on the data received from the device.
1 . A method comprising:
receiving, by a computing device, a continuous user interface input;
determining whether the continuous user interface input relates to a first application running on a first device or a second application running on a second device, wherein the first application is distinct from the second application;
selecting, based on the determining, a rate of transmission comprising a first rate of transmission for the first application, or a second rate of transmission for the second application; and
causing one of the first application or the second application to perform a function at the selected rate of transmission.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first rate of transmission is distinct from the second rate of transmission.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first rate of transmission is selected from a single transmission or a repeated transmission.
4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the single transmission is selected for powering ON or OFF a media device.
5 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the single transmission is selected for a program guide mode.
6 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the repeated transmission is selected for controlling volume of a media device.
7 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the repeated transmission is selected for changing a channel displayed on a media device.
8 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the repeated transmission is capped at a predetermined number of transmissions over a period of time.
9 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the repeated transmission is selected for transmitting signals to a gaming application.
10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein a time gap between the repeated transmissions for the gaming application are shorter than a time gap between the repeated transmissions for a program guide operation.
11 . An apparatus, comprising:
one or more processors;
a plurality of input interfaces in communication with the one or more processors; and
memory storing processor executable instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the apparatus to:
receive a continuous user interface input;
determine whether the continuous user interface input relates to a first application running on a first device or a second application running on a second device, wherein the first application is distinct from the second application;
select, based on the determining, a rate of transmission comprising a first rate of transmission for the first application, or a second rate of transmission for the second application; and
cause one of the first application or the second application to perform a function at the selected rate of transmission.
12 . The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the first rate of transmission is distinct from the second rate of transmission.
13 . The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the first rate of transmission is selected from a single transmission or a repeated transmission.
14 . The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the processor executable instructions, that when executed by the one or more processors, cause the apparatus to select the single transmission for powering ON or OFF a media device.
15 . The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the processor executable instructions, that when executed by the one or more processors, cause the apparatus to select the single transmission for a program guide mode.
16 . The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the processor executable instructions, that when executed by the one or more processors, cause the apparatus to select the repeated transmission for controlling volume of a media device.
17 . The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the processor executable instructions, that when executed by the one or more processors, cause the apparatus to select the repeated transmission for changing a channel displayed on a media device.
18 . The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the repeated transmission is capped at a predetermined number of transmissions over a period of time.
19 . The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the processor executable instructions, that when executed by the one or more processors, cause the apparatus to select the repeated transmission for transmitting signals to a gaming application.
20 . The apparatus of claim 19 , wherein a time gap between the repeated transmissions for the gaming application are shorter than a time gap between the repeated transmissions for a program guide operation.
