Abstract

A wireless device may support a plurality of channel state information (CSI) processes. The wireless device may send an indication of a number of supported CSI processes to a first base station. The first base station may send to the wireless device a handover command, instructing the wireless device to handover to a second base station. The handover command may comprise configuration parameters for CSI processes associated with the second base station. The configuration parameters may be based on the number of CSI processes supported by the wireless device.

Claims (58)

1. A method comprising:

receiving, by a first node and from a wireless device, at least one first message indicating that the wireless device supports configuration of a first quantity of channel state information (CSI) reports for a plurality of resource blocks;

transmitting, by the first node and to the wireless device, at least one second message comprising configuration parameters for a second quantity of CSI reference signals for the plurality of resource blocks, wherein the second quantity is less than or equal to the first quantity; and

transmitting, by the first node to a second node and based on a determination to perform a handover for the wireless device, at least one third message indicating the configuration parameters for the second quantity of CSI reference signals.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving, by the first node and from the wireless device, at least one measurement report subsequent to transmission of the at least one second message, wherein the at least one measurement report comprises signal quality information of at least one carrier of the second node, and

determining, by the first node and based on the at least one measurement report, to perform the handover is based on the at least one measurement report.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein:

the at least one second message further comprises configuration parameters associated with at least one channel, and

the at least one second message is configured to cause the wireless device to set up or modify at least one radio bearer.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one second message comprises at least one of: a physical layer parameter, a media access control layer parameter, or a radio link control layer parameter.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one second message comprises uplink channel configuration parameters and handover parameters.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one third message further comprises one or more parameters indicating that the wireless device supports the configuration of the first quantity of CSI reports.

7. A first node comprising:

one or more processors; and

memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the first node to:

receive, from a wireless device, at least one first message indicating that the wireless device supports configuration of a first quantity of channel state information (CSI) reports for a plurality of resource blocks;

transmit, to the wireless device, at least one second message comprising configuration parameters for a second quantity of CSI reference signals for the plurality of resource blocks, wherein the second quantity is less than or equal to the first quantity; and

transmit, to a second node and based on a determination to perform a handover for the wireless device, at least one third message indicating the configuration parameters for the second quantity of CSI reference signals.

8. The first node of claim 7 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the first node to:

receive, from the wireless device, at least one measurement report subsequent to transmission of the at least one second message, wherein the at least one measurement report comprises signal quality information of at least one carrier of the second node; and

determine, based on the at least one measurement report, to perform the handover based at least in part on the at least one measurement report.

9. The first node of claim 7 , wherein:

the at least one second message further comprises configuration parameters associated with at least one channel, and

the at least one second message is configured to cause the wireless device to set up or modify at least one radio bearer.

10. The first node of claim 7 , wherein the at least one second message comprises at least one of: a physical layer parameter, a media access control layer parameter, or a radio link control layer parameter.

11. The first node of claim 7 , wherein the at least one second message comprises uplink channel configuration parameters and handover parameters.

12. The first node of claim 7 , wherein the at least one third message further comprises one or more parameters indicating that the wireless device supports the configuration of the first quantity of CSI reports.

13. A method comprising:

transmitting, by a first node to a second node and based on a handover decision for a wireless device, at least one first message indicating that the wireless device supports configuration of a first quantity of channel state information (CSI) reports for a plurality of resource blocks;

receiving, by the first node and from the second node, at least one second message comprising second configuration parameters for a second quantity of CSI reference signals, wherein the second quantity is less than or equal to the first quantity; and

transmitting, by the first node and to the wireless device, a third message comprising the second configuration parameters.

14. The method of claim 13 , wherein the first quantity of CSI reports are associated with one or more CSI processes.

15. The method of claim 13 , wherein the third message comprises configuration parameters associated with:

one or more channels; and

at least one radio bearer.

16. The method of claim 13 , wherein the third message comprises at least one of: a physical layer parameter, a media access control layer parameter, or a radio link control layer parameter.

17. The method of claim 13 , wherein the third message comprises at least one of:

uplink channel configuration parameters and handover parameters;

radio resource configuration parameters comprising one or more channel configuration parameters; or

third configuration parameters for a plurality of carriers.

18. The method of claim 13 , wherein the second configuration parameters further comprise third configuration parameters for a third quantity of CSI reference signals, and wherein the third quantity is less than or equal to the first quantity.

19. A first node comprising:

one or more processors; and

memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the first node to:

transmit, to a second node and based on a handover decision for a wireless device, at least one first message indicating that the wireless device supports configuration of a first quantity of channel state information (CSI) reports for a plurality of resource blocks;

receive, from the second node, at least one second message comprising second configuration parameters for a second quantity of CSI reference signals, wherein the second quantity is less than or equal to the first quantity; and
