Abstract

Methods and systems are disclosed for communicating in a wireless communications system utilizing a plurality of frequency bands for downlink (DL) transmission and a plurality of frequency bands for uplink (UL) transmission. In an embodiment, a mobile device receives a DL signal via a DL frequency band. The DL signal contains DL-UL frequency band association information which is used to determine a UL frequency band for UL transmission. The mobile device configures its radio-frequency (RF) circuitry to operate in the UL frequency band for UL transmission.

Claims (20)

1. A method for use by a device using orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) communication having subcarriers in a frequency domain and frames having a plurality of subframes in a time domain, each of the subframes includes a plurality of OFDM symbols, the method comprising:

receiving system information indicating at least a plurality of downlink bands associated with a broadcasted video service for the device;

receiving, based on each of the indicated plurality of downlink bands, a signal including information about subsequent subframes in a frame and a preamble followed by the subsequent subframes, wherein the video data is included in the subsequent subframes; and

recovering the video data of the broadcasted video service based on the received signal.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the system information indicates at least one uplink band associated with the broadcasted video service.

3. A device that uses orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) communication having subcarriers in a frequency domain and frames having a plurality of subframes in a time domain, each of the subframes includes a plurality of OFDM symbols, the device comprising:

a receiver configured to:

receive system information indicating at least a plurality of downlink bands associated with a broadcasted video service for the device; and

receive, based on each of the indicated plurality of downlink bands, a signal including information about subsequent subframes in a frame and a preamble followed by the subsequent subframes, wherein the video data is included in the subsequent subframes; and

a processor configured to recover the video data of the broadcasted video service based on the received signal.

4. The device of claim 3 , wherein the system information indicates at least one uplink band associated with the broadcasted video service.

5. A method for use by a first device using orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) communication having subcarriers in a frequency domain and frames having a plurality of subframes in a time domain, each of the subframes includes a plurality of OFDM symbols, the method comprising:

transmitting system information indicating at least a plurality of downlink bands associated with a broadcasted video service for a second device;

transmitting, based on each of the indicated plurality of downlink bands, a signal including information about subsequent subframes in a frame and a preamble followed by the subsequent subframes, wherein the video data is included in the subsequent subframes.

6. The method of claim 5 , wherein the system information indicates at least one uplink band associated with the broadcasted video service.

7. A first device that uses orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) communication having subcarriers in a frequency domain and frames having a plurality of subframes in a time domain, each of the subframes includes a plurality of OFDM symbols, the first device comprising:

a transmitter configured to:

transmit system information indicating at least a plurality of downlink bands associated with a broadcasted video service for a second device; and

transmit, based on each of the indicated plurality of downlink bands, a signal including information about subsequent subframes in a frame and a preamble followed by the subsequent subframes, wherein the video data is included in the subsequent subframes.

8. The first device of claim 7 , wherein the system information indicates at least one uplink band associated with the broadcasted video service.
