Abstract

A positive electrode active material particle with little deterioration is provided. A power storage device with little deterioration is provided. A highly safe power storage device is provided. The positive electrode active material particle includes a first crystal grain, a second crystal grain, and a crystal grain boundary positioned between the crystal grain and the second crystal grain; the first crystal grain and the second crystal grain include lithium, a transition metal, and oxygen; the crystal grain boundary includes magnesium and oxygen; and the positive electrode active material particle includes a region where the ratio of the atomic concentration of magnesium in the crystal grain boundary to the atomic concentration of the transition metal in first crystal grain and the second crystal grain is greater than or equal to 0.010 and less than or equal to 0.50.

Claims (64)

1 . A lithium-ion secondary battery comprising:

a positive electrode active material particle including a plurality of crystal grains, a crystal grain boundary and a crystal defect,

wherein the crystal grain boundary and the crystal defect are present inside the positive electrode active material particle,

wherein the crystal grain boundary is positioned between a first one of the plurality of the crystal grains and a second one of the plurality of the crystal grains, the first one and the second one is adjacent to each other,

wherein an atomic concentration of magnesium in the crystal grain boundary or a periphery of the crystal grain boundary is higher than an atomic concentration of magnesium in the first one of the plurality of the crystal grains,

wherein magnesium is present in the crystal defect or a periphery of the crystal defect, and

wherein a ratio of the atomic concentration of magnesium in the crystal grain boundary or the periphery of the crystal grain boundary to an atomic concentration cobalt in the first one of the plurality of the crystal grains is greater than or equal to 0.010 and less than or equal to 0.50.

2 . A lithium-ion secondary battery comprising:

a positive electrode active material particle including a plurality of crystal grains, a crystal grain boundary and a crystal defect,

wherein the crystal grain boundary and the crystal defect are present inside the positive electrode active material particle,

wherein the crystal grain boundary is positioned between a first one of the plurality of the crystal grains and a second one of the plurality of the crystal grains, the first one and the second one is adjacent to each other,

wherein an atomic concentration of magnesium in the crystal grain boundary or a periphery of the crystal grain boundary is higher than an atomic concentration of magnesium in the first one of the plurality of the crystal grains,

wherein an atomic concentration of magnesium in the crystal defect or a periphery of the crystal defect is higher than an atomic concentration of magnesium in a third one of the plurality of the crystal grains, and

wherein an atomic concentration of fluorine in the crystal defect or the periphery of the crystal defect is higher than an atomic concentration of fluorine in the third one of the plurality of the crystal grains.

3 . A lithium-ion secondary battery comprising:

a positive electrode active material particle including a plurality of crystal grains, a crystal grain boundary and a crystal defect,

wherein the crystal grain boundary and the crystal defect are present inside the positive electrode active material particle,

wherein the crystal grain boundary is positioned between a first one of the plurality of the crystal grains and a second one of the plurality of the crystal grains, the first one and the second one is adjacent to each other,

wherein an atomic concentration of magnesium in the crystal grain boundary or a periphery of the crystal grain boundary is higher than an atomic concentration of magnesium in the first one of the plurality of the crystal grains,

wherein an atomic concentration of magnesium in the crystal defect or a periphery of the crystal defect is higher than an atomic concentration of magnesium in a third one of the plurality of the crystal grains, and

wherein a ratio of the atomic concentration of magnesium in the crystal defect or the periphery of the crystal defect to an atomic concentration cobalt in the third one of the plurality of the crystal grains is greater than or equal to 0.010 and less than or equal to 0.50.

4 . A lithium-ion secondary battery comprising:

a positive electrode active material particle including a plurality of crystal grains, a crystal grain boundary and a crystal defect,

wherein the crystal grain boundary and the crystal defect are present inside the positive electrode active material particle,

wherein the crystal grain boundary is positioned between a first one of the plurality of the crystal grains and a second one of the plurality of the crystal grains, the first one and the second one is adjacent to each other,

wherein an atomic concentration of magnesium in the crystal grain boundary or a periphery of the crystal grain boundary is higher than an atomic concentration of magnesium in the first one of the plurality of the crystal grains,

wherein an atomic concentration of magnesium in the crystal defect or a periphery of the crystal defect is higher than an atomic concentration of magnesium in a third one of the plurality of the crystal grains,

wherein an atomic concentration of fluorine in the crystal defect or the periphery of the crystal defect is higher than an atomic concentration of fluorine in the third one of the plurality of the crystal grains,

wherein a ratio of the atomic concentration of magnesium in the crystal defect or the periphery of the crystal defect to an atomic concentration cobalt in the third one of the plurality of the crystal grains is greater than or equal to 0.010 and less than or equal to 0.50, and

wherein a ratio of the atomic concentration of fluorine in the crystal defect or the periphery of the crystal defect to the atomic concentration cobalt in the third one of the plurality of the crystal grains is greater than or equal to 0.020 and less than or equal to 1.00.

5 . The lithium-ion secondary battery according to claim 1 , wherein the positive electrode active material particle comprises a lithium cobalt oxide.

6 . The lithium-ion secondary battery according to claim 2 , wherein the positive electrode active material particle comprises a lithium cobalt oxide.

7 . The lithium-ion secondary battery according to claim 3 , wherein the positive electrode active material particle comprises a lithium cobalt oxide.

8 . The lithium-ion secondary battery according to claim 4 , wherein the positive electrode active material particle comprises a lithium cobalt oxide.

9 . The lithium-ion secondary battery according to claim 1 , wherein magnesium oxide is present in the crystal grain boundary or the periphery of the crystal grain boundary.

10 . The lithium-ion secondary battery according to claim 2 , wherein magnesium oxide is present in the crystal grain boundary or the periphery of the crystal grain boundary.

11 . The lithium-ion secondary battery according to claim 3 , wherein magnesium oxide is present in the crystal grain boundary or the periphery of the crystal grain boundary.

12 . The lithium-ion secondary battery according to claim 4 , wherein magnesium oxide is present in the crystal grain boundary or the periphery of the crystal grain boundary.

13 . The lithium-ion secondary battery according to claim 1 , wherein magnesium oxide is present in the crystal defect or the periphery of the crystal defect.

14 . The lithium-ion secondary battery according to claim 2 , wherein magnesium oxide is present in the crystal defect or the periphery of the crystal defect.

15 . The lithium-ion secondary battery according to claim 3 , wherein magnesium oxide is present in the crystal defect or the periphery of the crystal defect.

16 . The lithium-ion secondary battery according to claim 4 , wherein magnesium oxide is present in the crystal defect or the periphery of the crystal defect.

17 . The lithium-ion secondary battery according to claim 1 ,

wherein fluorine is present in the crystal grain boundary or the periphery of the crystal grain boundary, and.

wherein an atomic concentration of fluorine in the crystal grain boundary or the periphery of the crystal grain boundary is higher than an atomic concentration of fluorine in the first one of the plurality of the crystal grains.

18 . The lithium-ion secondary battery according to claim 2 ,

wherein fluorine is present in the crystal grain boundary or the periphery of the crystal grain boundary, and.

wherein an atomic concentration of fluorine in the crystal grain boundary or the periphery of the crystal grain boundary is higher than an atomic concentration of fluorine in the first one of the plurality of the crystal grains.

19 . The lithium-ion secondary battery according to claim 3 ,

wherein fluorine is present in the crystal grain boundary or the periphery of the crystal grain boundary, and.

wherein an atomic concentration of fluorine in the crystal grain boundary or the periphery of the crystal grain boundary is higher than an atomic concentration of fluorine in the first one of the plurality of the crystal grains.

20 . The lithium-ion secondary battery according to claim 4 ,

wherein fluorine is present in the crystal grain boundary or the periphery of the crystal grain boundary, and.

wherein an atomic concentration of fluorine in the crystal grain boundary or the periphery of the crystal grain boundary is higher than an atomic concentration of fluorine in the first one of the plurality of the crystal grains.

21 . The lithium-ion secondary battery according to claim 1 ,

wherein a ratio of an atomic concentration of fluorine in the crystal grain boundary or the periphery of the crystal grain boundary to the atomic concentration cobalt in the first one of the plurality of the crystal grains is greater than or equal to 0.010 and less than or equal to 0.50.

22 . The lithium-ion secondary battery according to claim 1 , further comprising a conductive additive,

wherein the conductive additive includes at least one of carbon fiber, carbon black, graphite particle, graphene, and fullerene.

23 . The lithium-ion secondary battery according to claim 2 , further comprising a conductive additive,

wherein the conductive additive includes at least one of carbon fiber, carbon black, graphite particle, graphene, and fullerene.

24 . The lithium-ion secondary battery according to claim 3 , further comprising a conductive additive,

wherein the conductive additive includes at least one of carbon fiber, carbon black, graphite particle, graphene, and fullerene.

25 . The lithium-ion secondary battery according to claim 4 , further comprising a conductive additive,

wherein the conductive additive includes at least one of carbon fiber, carbon black, graphite particle, graphene, and fullerene.
