METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR MULTI-ACCOUNT ADJUSTMENT IN THIRD-PARTY PRIVACY-PROTECTED CLOUD ENVIRONMENTS
Methods and apparatus for multi-account adjustment in third-party privacy-protected cloud environments are disclosed herein. A disclosed example apparatus includes memory and processor circuitry to execute computer readable instructions to select a type of client device, determine a number of panelists associated with a demographic characteristic and the type of client device, the demographic characteristic defining a segment of the panelists, determine a number of user accounts associated with the number of panelists, determine a multi-account adjustment factor for the demographic characteristic and the client device based on a ratio of the number of the panelists to the number of user accounts, and adjust an initial estimate of a unique audience size based on the multi-account adjustment factor.
1 . An apparatus, comprising:
memory; and
processor circuitry to execute computer readable instructions to:
select a type of client device;
determine a number of panelists associated with a demographic characteristic and the type of client device, the demographic characteristic defining a segment of the panelists;
determine a number of user accounts associated with the number of panelists;
determine a multi-account adjustment factor for the demographic characteristic and the client device based on a ratio of the number of the panelists to the number of user accounts; and
adjust an initial estimate of a unique audience size based on the multi-account adjustment factor.
2 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the demographic characteristic includes an age or a gender.
3 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the client device includes a first type of client device and a second type of client device.
4 . The apparatus of claim 3 , wherein the first type or the second type of client device is a desktop device or a mobile device.
5 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the processor circuitry is to identify the panelists based on panel data from an audience measurement entity, the panel data including media impressions for panelists.
6 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the processor circuitry is to recalibrate the multi-account adjustment factor on a periodic or aperiodic basis.
7 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the processor circuitry is to adjust the initial estimate of the unique audience size based on the number of user accounts matched to a number of impressions logged by a database proprietor.
8 . A method, comprising:
selecting a type of client device;
determining a number of panelists associated with a demographic characteristic and the type of client device, the demographic characteristic defining a segment of the panelists;
determining a number of user accounts associated with the number of panelists;
determining a multi-account adjustment factor for the demographic characteristic and the client device based on a ratio of the number of the panelists to the number of user accounts; and
adjusting an initial estimate of a unique audience size based on the multi-account adjustment factor.
9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the demographic characteristic includes an age or a gender.
10 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the client device includes a first type of client device and a second type of client device.
11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the first type or the second type of client device is a desktop device or a mobile device.
12 . The method of claim 8 , further including identifying the panelists based on panel data from an audience measurement entity, the panel data including media impressions for panelists.
13 . The method of claim 8 , further including recalibrating the multi-account adjustment factor on a periodic or aperiodic basis.
14 . The method of claim 8 , further including adjusting the initial estimate of the unique audience size based on the number of user accounts matched to a number of impressions logged by a database proprietor.
15 . At least one non-transitory computer readable storage medium comprising instructions that, when executed, cause at least one processor to at least:
selecting a type of client device;
determining a number of panelists associated with a demographic characteristic and the type of client device, the demographic characteristic defining a segment of the panelists;
determining a number of user accounts associated with the number of panelists;
determining a multi-account adjustment factor for the demographic characteristic and the client device based on a ratio of the number of the panelists to the number of user accounts; and
adjusting an initial estimate of a unique audience size based on the multi-account adjustment factor.
16 . The at least one non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the client device includes a first type of client device and a second type of client device.
17 . The at least one non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the demographic characteristic includes an age or a gender.
18 . The at least one non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the instructions cause the at least one processor to identify the panelists based on panel data from an audience measurement entity, the panel data including media impressions for panelists.
19 . The at least one non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the instructions cause the at least one processor to recalibrate the multi-account adjustment factor on a periodic or aperiodic basis.
20 . The at least one non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the instructions cause the at least one processor to adjust the initial estimate of the unique audience size based on the number of user accounts matched to a number of impressions logged by a database proprietor.
