Abstract

A negative electrode for a lithium secondary battery, a method of manufacturing the same, and a lithium secondary battery including the same are provided. The negative electrode comprises a plurality of lithium thin films and a salt coating layer, which contains a lithium salt and an additive, formed between the plurality of lithium thin films, and provides improved lifetime characteristics of a battery while maintaining high coulombic efficiency because the lithium salt and the additive being consumed in the electrolyte during operation of the battery are replenished as the salt coating layer dissolves.

Claims (23)

1 . A negative electrode for a lithium secondary battery, the negative electrode comprising:

a plurality of lithium thin films; and

a salt coating layer formed between the plurality of lithium thin films.

2 . The negative electrode according to claim 1 , wherein the salt coating layer comprises a lithium salt and an additive.

3 . The negative electrode according to claim 2 , wherein the lithium salt comprises one or more selected from the group consisting of LiN(C 2 F 5 SO 2 ) 2 (Lithium bis(perfluoroethylsulfonyl)imide, LiBETI), LiN(C 2 F 5 SO 3 ) 2 , LiN(FSO 2 ) 2 (Lithium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide, LiFSI), LiN(CF 3 SO 2 ) 2 (Lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide, LiTFSI), LiPF 6 , LiClO 4 , LiAsF 6 , LiBF 4 , LiSbF 6 , LiAlO 4 , LiAlCl 4 , LiCF 3 SO 3 , and LiC 4 F 9 SO 3 .

4 . The negative electrode according to claim 2 , wherein the additive comprises one or more selected from the group consisting of an inorganic nitric acid compound and an organic nitric acid compound,

wherein the inorganic nitric acid compound includes one or more selected from the group consisting of lithium nitrate (LiNO 3 ) and lithium nitrite (LiNO 2 ), and

wherein the organic nitric acid compound includes one or more selected from the group consisting of nitromethane (CH 3 NO 2 ) and methyl nitrate (CH 3 NO 3 ).

5 . The negative electrode according to claim 2 , wherein the salt coating layer comprises 40 to 80 wt. % of the lithium salt and 20 to 60 wt. % of the additive.

6 . The negative electrode according to claim 1 , wherein the salt coating layer has a thickness of 100 nm to 3 μm.

7 . The negative electrode according to claim 1 , wherein the lithium thin film has a thickness of 10 μm to 50 μm.

8 . The negative electrode according to claim 1 , wherein the lithium thin film is porous.

9 . The negative electrode according to claim 1 , wherein a number of the plurality of lithium thin films is 2 to 4.

10 . A method for manufacturing a negative electrode for a lithium secondary battery, the method comprising:

(S1) forming a salt coating layer on one surface of a lithium thin film;

(S2) laminating a plurality of the lithium thin films on which the salt coating layer is formed in step (S1) to form a laminate; and

(S3) laminating another lithium thin film on the salt coating layer that is exposed at the outermost layer of the laminate obtained in step (S2).

11 . A lithium secondary battery comprising:

the negative electrode of claim 1 ;

a positive electrode;

a separator between the positive electrode and the negative electrode; and

an electrolyte with which the positive electrode, the negative electrode, and the separator are impregnated.

12 . The lithium secondary battery according to claim 11 , wherein the lithium secondary battery is a lithium-sulfur secondary battery.
