Abstract

An embodiment of the present invention is a printer in which peeling issuing and continuous issuing can be switched. Peeling issuing allows a label to be issued after being peeled from a liner of a print medium with the label releasably attached on the liner. Continuous issuing allows the label to be issued without being peeled from the liner. The printer includes a feed roller configured to feed the print medium and also includes a peeling unit including a peeling roller holder and a peeling roller cover. The peeling roller holder holds a peeling roller that faces the feed roller in peeling issuing. The peeling roller cover axially supports the peeling roller holder in a swingable manner and is movable between a closed position and an open position. When the peeling roller cover is at the open position, the peeling roller holder is swingable between a first position for facing a back surface of the peeling roller cover and a second position at which the peeling roller is not covered with the peeling roller cover. The peeling unit further includes a biasing member that biases the peeling roller holder from the first position to the second position.

Claims (58)

1 . A printer in which peeling issuing and continuous issuing can be switched, peeling issuing allowing a label to be issued after being peeled from a liner of a print medium with the label releasably attached on the liner, continuous issuing allowing the label to be issued without being peeled from the liner, the printer comprising:

a feed roller configured to feed the print medium; and

a peeling unit including

a peeling roller holder holding a peeling roller that faces the feed roller in peeling issuing, and

a peeling roller cover axially supporting the peeling roller holder in a swingable manner and being movable between a closed position and an open position,

wherein, when the peeling roller cover is at the open position, the peeling roller holder is swingable between a first position for facing a back surface of the peeling roller cover and a second position at which the peeling roller is not covered with the peeling roller cover, and

the peeling unit further comprising a biasing member that biases the peeling roller holder from the first position to the second position.

2 . The printer according to claim 1 , wherein the peeling roller cover comprises a first shaft as a swing shaft to allow swinging between the closed position and the open position,

the peeling roller holder comprises a second shaft that is axially supported by the peeling roller cover, and

when the peeling roller cover is at the open position, the second shaft is at a position higher than a position of the second shaft when the peeling roller cover is at the closed position, and space for allowing the peeling roller holder to swing from the first position to the second position is formed.

3 . The printer according to claim 1 , further comprising a first restricting part that restricts swinging of the peeling roller holder, the first restricting part being configured to abut on a part of the peeling roller holder to restrict swinging of the peeling roller holder, when the peeling roller holder is at the first position and the peeling roller cover is at the open position.

4 . The printer according to claim 3 , further comprising a second restricting part that restricts swinging of the peeling roller holder, the second restricting part being configured to come into contact with a part of the peeling roller holder while the peeling roller cover moves from the open position to the closed position, thereby restricting the peeling roller holder from swinging, at a position between the first position and the second position.

5 . The printer according to claim 1 , further comprising an operation member for moving the peeling roller cover at the closed position to the open position,

wherein, in response to an operator operating the operation member when the peeling roller cover is at the closed position, movement of the peeling roller cover from the closed position to the open position, and swinging of the peeling roller holder from the first position to the second position, are performed simultaneously.

6 . The printer according to claim 1 , further comprising:

a printer cover being swingable between an open position for exposing an inside of the printer and a closed position for covering the inside of the printer;

a locking member being swingable between a locking position for locking the printer cover to the closed position and an unlocking position for unlocking the printer cover at the closed position; and

a swing member configured to swing so as to move the peeling roller cover between the closed position and the open position,

wherein the locking member and the swing member shares a single swing shaft.

7 . The printer according to claim 2 , further comprising a printer body that contains the first shaft of the peeling roller cover and is formed with an elongated hole.

8 . The printer according to claim 1 , further comprising:

a print head configured to pinch the print medium with the feed roller and to print information on the label; and

a printer body having a protrusion that protrudes upward,

wherein the peeling roller cover has an abutting part that abuts on the protrusion when the peeling roller cover is at the closed position, and

when the peeling roller cover is at the closed position, the peeling unit is spaced apart from the print head.

9 . The printer according to claim 2 , further comprising a first restricting part that restricts swinging of the peeling roller holder, the first restricting part being configured to abut on a part of the peeling roller holder to restrict swinging of the peeling roller holder, when the peeling roller holder is at the first position and the peeling roller cover is at the open position.

10 . The printer according to claim 9 , further comprising a second restricting part that restricts swinging of the peeling roller holder, the second restricting part being configured to come into contact with a part of the peeling roller holder while the peeling roller cover moves from the open position to the closed position, thereby restricting the peeling roller holder from swinging, at a position between the first position and the second position.

11 . The printer according to claim 2 , further comprising an operation member for moving the peeling roller cover at the closed position to the open position,

wherein, in response to an operator operating the operation member when the peeling roller cover is at the closed position, movement of the peeling roller cover from the closed position to the open position, and swinging of the peeling roller holder from the first position to the second position, are performed simultaneously.

12 . The printer according to claim 9 , further comprising an operation member for moving the peeling roller cover at the closed position to the open position,

wherein, in response to an operator operating the operation member when the peeling roller cover is at the closed position, movement of the peeling roller cover from the closed position to the open position, and swinging of the peeling roller holder from the first position to the second position, are performed simultaneously.

13 . The printer according to claim 10 , further comprising an operation member for moving the peeling roller cover at the closed position to the open position,

wherein, in response to an operator operating the operation member when the peeling roller cover is at the closed position, movement of the peeling roller cover from the closed position to the open position, and swinging of the peeling roller holder from the first position to the second position, are performed simultaneously.

14 . The printer according to claim 2 , further comprising:

a printer cover being swingable between an open position for exposing an inside of the printer and a closed position for covering the inside of the printer;

a locking member being swingable between a locking position for locking the printer cover to the closed position and an unlocking position for unlocking the printer cover at the closed position; and

a swing member configured to swing so as to move the peeling roller cover between the closed position and the open position,

wherein the locking member and the swing member shares a single swing shaft.

15 . The printer according to claim 3 , further comprising:

a printer cover being swingable between an open position for exposing an inside of the printer and a closed position for covering the inside of the printer;

a locking member being swingable between a locking position for locking the printer cover to the closed position and an unlocking position for unlocking the printer cover at the closed position; and

a swing member configured to swing so as to move the peeling roller cover between the closed position and the open position,

wherein the locking member and the swing member shares a single swing shaft.

16 . The printer according to claim 9 , further comprising:

a printer cover being swingable between an open position for exposing an inside of the printer and a closed position for covering the inside of the printer;

a locking member being swingable between a locking position for locking the printer cover to the closed position and an unlocking position for unlocking the printer cover at the closed position; and
