Abstract

A method is disclosed of providing a 5G network location service, comprising: receiving, at a gNodeB, a measurement request from a Location Management Function (LMF) device; initiating, by the gNodeB in response to receiving the measurement request, a location determining SRS; sending, by the gNodeB, a Sounding Reference Signal (SRS) schedule to a master Hyper Speed Network (HSN) node; receiving, by the gNodeB, a message having the User equipment (UE) location; and using, by the gNodeB, the UE location as an NG-Radio Access Network (NG-RAN) Access Point location in a measurement response.

Claims (11)

1 . A method of providing a network location service, comprising:

receiving, at a gNodeB, a measurement request from a Location Management Function (LMF) device;

initiating, by the gNodeB in response to receiving the measurement request, a location determining SRS;

sending, by the gNodeB, a Sounding Reference Signal (SRS) schedule to a master Hyper Speed Network (HSN) node;

receiving, by the gNodeB, a message having the User equipment (UE) location; and

using, by the gNodeB, the UE location as an NG-Radio Access Network (NG-RAN) Access Point location in a measurement response.

2 . A system providing a network location service, comprising:

a gNodeB;

a Location Management Function (LMF) device in communication with the gNodeB;

a master Hyper Speed Network (HSN) node in communication with the gNodeB;

wherein the gNodeB receives a measurement request from a Location Management Function (LMF) device; initiates a location determining Sounding Reference Signal (SRS); sends a Sounding Reference Signal (SRS) schedule to a master Hyper Speed Network (HSN) node; receives a message having the User equipment (UE) location; and uses UE location as an NG-Radio Access Network (NG-RAN) Access Point location in a measurement response.
