METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR FILTERING CONTENT
The present teaching relates to methods, systems, and programming for information retrieval. A search result associated with a search query is obtained and provided to a user. Upon receiving a filtering request from the user, the search result is filtered based on the filtering request to generate an updated search result. The updated search result is provided to the user in response to the filtering request.
1 . A method for pruning email content, the method comprising:
presenting, via a graphical user interface (GUI) to a user, email content in the user's email box, wherein the GUI comprises a pruning icon for receiving the user's input to perform a prune function; and
in response to the user selecting the pruning icon and selecting a first email from the email content presented on the GUI, performing the prune function by:
providing the user with options including one or more of: not showing emails from a sender of the first email, not showing emails with a subject line of the first email, not showing emails in a folder associated with the first email, and not showing emails from a date associated with the first email, and
in response to the user selecting one of the options, updating the email content presented on the GUI by removing at least a part of the email content from the GUI.
2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
providing the user with an option to search through all emails in the email content excluding the user's personal emails.
3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
providing the user with an option to search through all emails in the email content excluding emails sent from a predetermined sender.
4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
providing the user with an option to exclude one or more predetermined keywords from the email content.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the GUI comprises a result icon showing information associated with emails included in the updated email content.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the GUI comprises a select model icon, wherein the user selecting the select model icon indicates selection of one of first and second filtering modes and the user not selecting the select model icon indicates selection of the other one of the first and second filtering modes.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the user input comprises a touch operation performed by the user.
8 . A non-transitory, computer-readable medium having information recorded thereon for pruning email content, wherein the information, when read by a machine, causes the machine to perform operations comprising:
presenting, via a graphical user interface (GUI) to a user, email content in the user's email box, wherein the GUI comprises a pruning icon for receiving the user's input to perform a prune function; and
in response to the user selecting the pruning icon and selecting a first email from the email content presented on the GUI, performing the prune function by:
providing the user with options including one or more of: not showing emails from a sender of the first email, not showing emails with a subject line of the first email, not showing emails in a folder associated with the first email, and not showing emails from a date associated with the first email, and
in response to the user selecting one of the options, updating the email content presented on the GUI by removing at least a part of the email content from the GUI.
9 . The medium of claim 8 , wherein the operations further comprise:
providing the user with an option to search through all emails in the email content excluding the user's personal emails.
10 . The medium of claim 8 , wherein the operations further comprise:
providing the user with an option to search through all emails in the email content excluding emails sent from a predetermined sender.
11 . The medium of claim 8 , wherein the operations further comprise:
providing the user with an option to exclude one or more predetermined keywords from the email content.
12 . The medium of claim 8 , wherein the GUI comprises a result icon showing information associated with emails included in the updated email content.
13 . The medium of claim 8 , wherein the GUI comprises a select model icon, wherein the user selecting the select model icon indicates selection of one of first and second filtering modes and the user not selecting the select model icon indicates selection of the other one of the first and second filtering modes.
14 . The medium of claim 8 , wherein the user input comprises a touch operation performed by the user.
15 . A system for pruning email content, the system comprising:
memory storing computer program instructions; and
one or more processors that, in response to executing the computer program instructions, effectuate operations comprising:
presenting, via a graphical user interface (GUI) to a user, email content in the user's email box, wherein the GUI comprises a pruning icon for receiving the user's input to perform a prune function; and
in response to the user selecting the pruning icon and selecting a first email from the email content presented on the GUI, performing the prune function by:
providing the user with options including one or more of: not showing emails from a sender of the first email, not showing emails with a subject line of the first email, not showing emails in a folder associated with the first email, and not showing emails from a date associated with the first email, and
in response to the user selecting one of the options, updating the email content presented on the GUI by removing at least a part of the email content from the GUI.
16 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the operations further comprise:
providing the user with an option to search through all emails in the email content excluding the user's personal emails.
17 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the operations further comprise:
providing the user with an option to search through all emails in the email content excluding emails sent from a predetermined sender.
18 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the operations further comprise:
providing the user with an option to exclude one or more predetermined keywords from the email content.
19 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the GUI comprises a result icon showing information associated with emails included in the updated email content.
20 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the GUI comprises a select model icon, wherein the user selecting the select model icon indicates selection of one of first and second filtering modes and the user not selecting the select model icon indicates selection of the other one of the first and second filtering modes.
