Abstract

A window shade system may comprise a drive mechanism having a friction slip ring inside a brake hub, wherein the brake hub is configured to rotate with respect to the friction slip ring, in response to an at least partial rotation of the drive mechanism. The brake hub may be configured to overcome a break-away force between the drive hub and the friction slip ring. The brake hub may be configured to overcome a break-away force between the drive hub and the friction slip ring. The brake hub may be configured to overcome a break-away force of about double a maximum force that a window shade exerts on the friction slip ring. The system may include a spring plunger system abutting a bracket, wherein the spring plunger system may be configured to reduce friction against the bracket in response to a first at least partial rotation of a drive mechanism.

Claims (26)

1. A window shade system comprising a spring plunger system abutting a bracket, wherein the spring plunger system is configured to retract away from the bracket and reduce friction against the bracket in response to a first at least partial rotation of a drive mechanism, and wherein the spring plunger system is configured to engage with the bracket in response to a second at least partial rotation of the drive mechanism.

The system of claim 1 , wherein the spring plunger system is configured to reduce friction by having one or more balls that disengage from one or more holes in the bracket, and wherein the drive mechanism rotates in response to the one or more balls disengaging from the one or more holes in the bracket.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the drive mechanism comprises a brake hub.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the drive mechanism is configured to rotate 90 degrees, in response to the spring plunger system reducing friction from the bracket.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the spring plunger system is configured to re-engage with the drive mechanism after a 90 degree rotation of the drive mechanism.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the spring plunger system includes four balls that respectively engage with four holes in the bracket.

7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the spring plunger system includes a spring between a ball and a brake hub of the drive mechanism.

8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the spring plunger system includes a casing around a ball and a spring, wherein the casing is within a brake hub of the drive mechanism.

9. The system of claim 1 , wherein the spring plunger system being configured to reduce friction with the bracket comprises one or more balls configured to at least one of pop out or flex out of one or more openings in a brake hub of the drive mechanism.

10. The system of claim 1 , wherein a ball of the spring plunger system is configured to re-engage with a hole in the bracket.

11. The system of claim 1 , wherein the drive mechanism includes at least one of a sun gear, a brake hub, a planetary carrier, a bearing shaft, a drive hub, a tube adapter and a shade tube.

12. The system of claim 1 , wherein the drive mechanism rotating does not impact the relationship between a bead stop location and a resulting hembar position.

13. The system of claim 1 , further comprising a sprocket having a back wall that engages with an element that is concentric with a sun gear of the drive mechanism.

14. The system of claim 13 , wherein the concentric element is a flange comprising a non-tooth portion of the sun gear.

15. The system of claim 1 , further comprising:

the bracket having a first side and a second side;

a drive shaft having a first portion that extends from the first side of the bracket and a second portion that extends from the second side of the bracket;

the drive mechanism received by the drive shaft;

a chain around a sprocket of the drive mechanism;

a first shade tube of the drive mechanism, wherein the first shade tube is engaged with the first portion of the drive shaft; and

a second shade tube engaged with the second portion of the drive shaft.

The system of claim 15 , wherein the first portion of the drive shaft is configured to control a first drive hub of the drive mechanism, wherein the first drive hub rotates the first shade tube and the second portion of the drive shaft is configured to control a second drive hub that rotates the second shade tube.

17. The system of claim 15 , wherein in response to the chain being pulled, rotational force is transferred to the first shade tube on the first side of the bracket and to the second shade tube on the second side of the bracket.

18. The system of claim 15 , wherein the sprocket is configured to drive in parallel the first shade tube and the second shade tube.

19. A window shade system comprising a spring plunger system that includes one or more balls that abut with one or more holes in a bracket, wherein the spring plunger system is configured to reduce friction against the bracket in response to a first at least partial rotation of a drive mechanism.

20. The system of claim 19 , wherein the spring plunger system is configured to engage with the bracket, in response to a second at least partial rotation of the drive mechanism.
