Abstract

In some embodiments, control circuitry, at the memory, over a particular time period, tracks a number of simultaneous streams requested by devices that are logged into a media service using credentials of a user account. In response to determining that a particular number of simultaneous streams have been requested by different user devices over the particular time period, input/output circuitry transmits a user-selectable option to request an additional simultaneous stream for an additional device that is logged into the media service using credentials of the user account. In response to receiving a user selection of the option, control circuitry transmits an additional simultaneous stream to the additional user device.

Claims (39)

1 - 50 . (canceled)

51 . A method comprising:

tracking, over a particular time period, a number of simultaneous streams requested by different user devices that are logged into a media service using credentials of a user account;

in response to determining that a particular number of simultaneous streams have been requested by different user devices over the particular time period:

transmitting a user-selectable option to request an additional simultaneous stream for an additional user device that is logged into the media service using credentials of the user account; and

in response to receiving a user selection of the option, transmitting an additional simultaneous stream to the additional user device.

52 . The method of claim 51 , wherein the different user devices are associated with different user profiles.

53 . The method of claim 51 , wherein the particular number of simultaneous streams comprises the number of streams available to the user account from the media service.

54 . The method of claim 51 , wherein the particular time period comprises a subscription period that the user account has been subscribed to the media service.

55 . The method of claim 51 , wherein the particular time period comprises a subscription period that the user account has been subscribed to the media service, and wherein the particular number of simultaneous streams is determined based on a length of time of the subscription period.

56 . The method of claim 51 , wherein the particular number of simultaneous streams is determined based on a date, and wherein only a certain number of instances of simultaneous streaming is allowed during the date.

57 . The method of claim 51 , wherein the particular number of simultaneous streams is determined based on a time of day, and wherein only a certain number of instances of simultaneous streaming is allowed during the time of day.

58 . The method of claim 51 , wherein the particular time period comprises a subscription period that the user account has been subscribed to the media service, and wherein the particular number of simultaneous streams is determined based on a number of media assets that became available from the subscription service during a portion of the subscription period.

59 . The method of claim 51 , wherein the particular time period comprises a subscription period that the user account has been subscribed to the media service, and wherein the user-selectable option further comprises names of media assets, names of users, a number of streaming conflicts occurring during the subscription period, instructions for increasing or decreasing a number of streams in a subscription, and recommendations of how to minimize future streaming conflicts.

60 . A system comprising:

memory;

control circuitry configured to:

track at the memory, over a particular time period, a number of simultaneous streams requested by different user devices that are logged into a media service using credentials of a user account;

input/output circuitry configured to, in response to the control circuitry determining that a particular number of simultaneous streams have been requested by different user devices over the particular time period, transmit a user-selectable option to request an additional simultaneous stream for an additional device that is logged into the media service using credentials of the user account; and

wherein the control circuitry is further configured to, in response to receiving a user selection of the option, transmit an additional simultaneous stream to the additional user device.

61 . The system of claim 60 , wherein the different user devices are associated with different user profiles.

62 . The system of claim 60 , wherein the particular number of simultaneous streams comprises the number of streams available to the user account from the media service.

63 . The system of claim 60 , wherein the particular time period comprises a subscription period that the user account has been subscribed to the media service.

64 . The system of claim 60 , wherein the particular time period comprises a subscription period that the user account has been subscribed to the media service, and wherein the control circuitry is further configured to determine the particular number of simultaneous streams based on a length of time of the subscription period.

65 . The system of claim 60 , wherein the particular time period comprises a subscription period that the user account has been subscribed to the media service, and wherein the control circuitry is further configured to determine the particular number of simultaneous streams based on a date corresponding to a portion of the subscription period.

66 . The system of claim 60 , wherein the particular time period comprises a subscription period that the user account has been subscribed to the media service, and wherein the control circuitry is further configured to determine the particular number of simultaneous streams based on a time of day corresponding to a portion of the subscription period.

67 . The system of claim 60 , wherein the particular time period comprises a subscription period that the user account has been subscribed to the media service, and wherein the control circuitry is further configured to determine the particular number of simultaneous streams based on a number of media assets that became available from the subscription service during a portion of the subscription period.

68 . The system of claim 60 , wherein the particular time period comprises a subscription period that the user account has been subscribed to the media service, and wherein the user-selectable option further comprises names of media assets, names of users, a number of streaming conflicts occurring during the subscription period, instructions for increasing or decreasing a number of streams in a subscription, and recommendations of how to minimize future streaming conflicts.

69 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising:

instructions that when executed by a control circuitry cause the control circuitry to:

track, over a particular time period, a number of simultaneous streams requested by different user devices that are logged into a media service using credentials of a user account;

instructions that when executed by an input/output circuitry cause the input/output circuitry to:

transmit a user-selectable option to request an additional simultaneous stream for an additional user device that is logged into the media service using credentials of the user account, in response to the control circuitry determining that a particular number of simultaneous streams have been requested by different user devices over the particular time period; and

instructions that when executed by the control circuitry further cause the control circuitry to:

transmit an additional simultaneous stream to the additional user device in response to receiving a user selection of the option.

70 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 69 , wherein the different user devices are associated with different user profiles.

71 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 69 , wherein the particular number of simultaneous streams comprises the number of streams available to the user account from the media service.

72 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 69 , wherein the particular time period comprises a subscription period that the user account has been subscribed to the media service.

73 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 69 , wherein the particular time period comprises a subscription period that the user account has been subscribed to the media service, and wherein the user-selectable option further comprises names of media assets, names of users, a number of streaming conflicts occurring during the subscription period, instructions for increasing or decreasing a number of streams in a subscription, and recommendations of how to minimize future streaming conflicts.
