Abstract

The systems and methods provide a container assembly comprising: a container having a known storage capacity for storing a liquid; an additive dispensing assembly, the additive dispensing assembly dispensing variable, non-zero quantities of one or more additives into the liquid stored in the container; one or more vessels that each contain one of the additives, of the one or more additives, to be dispensed into the liquid; and a gas dispensing assembly, the gas dispensing assembly releasing a gas into the liquid stored in the container, and the gas dispensing assembly including: an onboard gas tank; a valve assembly; and a gas outlet, and the valve assembly controlling flow of gas from the onboard gas tank, through the valve assembly, and to the gas outlet so as to output the gas into the liquid; and wherein the valve assembly, to perform the controlling the flow of gas, is movable between: an open position, in which flow of gas is allowed to flow from the onboard gas tank to the gas outlet; and a closed position in which the flow of gas is prevented to flow from the onboard gas tank to the gas outlet.

Claims (26)

1. A container assembly comprising:

a container having a chamber for holding a liquid; and

a gas dispensing assembly for providing pressurized carbon dioxide gas to the chamber to carbonate the liquid in the chamber, the gas dispensing assembly including:

an onboard gas source having a gas tank attached to the chamber and configured to hold the carbon dioxide gas under pressure;

a gas supply conduit including a gas outlet fluidly coupled to deliver the pressurized carbon dioxide gas from the gas tank into the chamber and a gas supply valve fluidly coupled between the gas tank and the gas outlet, the gas supply valve configured to control a flow of the pressurized carbon dioxide gas from the gas tank to the gas outlet so as to output the pressurized carbon dioxide gas into the chamber; and

a gas inlet fluidly coupled to the gas tank and configured to receive pressurized carbon dioxide gas to refill the gas tank while the gas tank is attached to the chamber, the gas inlet configured to refill the gas tank by receiving and delivering only the pressurized carbon dioxide gas to the gas tank and without delivery of liquid or carbon dioxide source material,

wherein the chamber holding the liquid and the attached gas dispensing assembly including the gas tank are portable and manipulable by hand by a user to drink the liquid from the chamber.

2. The container assembly of claim 1 , wherein the gas inlet includes a one-way valve configured to permit flow of pressurized carbon dioxide gas only into the gas tank.

3. The container assembly of claim 1 , wherein the gas outlet includes a one-way valve configured to permit flow of the pressurized carbon dioxide gas only into the chamber.

4. The container assembly of claim 1 , wherein the chamber is positioned above the gas tank.

5. The container assembly of claim 1 , wherein the gas tank is contained in a housing of the container assembly attached to a lower portion of the chamber.

6. The container assembly of claim 5 , wherein the housing is threadedly attached to the chamber.

7. The container assembly of claim 1 , further comprising a user interface operable by a user to cause the gas supply valve to deliver the pressurized carbon dioxide gas from the gas tank to the chamber.

8. The container assembly of claim 1 , wherein the container assembly is configured to be manipulated by hand by a user to drink the liquid from the chamber.

9. The container assembly of claim 1 , wherein the gas inlet is located at a bottom of the container assembly and is positioned below the gas tank and the chamber.

10. The container assembly of claim 1 , further comprising a housing portion in which the gas tank is located, the housing portion having a recess in which a gas inlet is located to receive pressurized carbon dioxide gas into the gas tank.

11. The container assembly of claim 1 , wherein the gas supply valve is controllable to deliver a variable amount of pressurized carbon dioxide gas from the gas tank to the chamber to adjust a carbonation level of the liquid.

12. The container assembly of claim 1 , wherein the gas inlet is connected to the gas tank at an inlet location separate from an outlet location at which the gas supply conduit is connected to the gas tank.

13. The container assembly of claim 1 , wherein the gas inlet is configured to receive pressurized carbon dioxide gas into the gas tank during a time when the gas supply conduit delivers the pressurized carbon dioxide gas into the beverage chamber.

14. The container assembly of claim 1 , wherein the chamber includes an opening and a removable cap configured seal the opening closed, the opening configured to receive the liquid into the chamber.

15. The container assembly of claim 1 , further comprising an additive container configured to deliver additive from the additive container into the liquid.

16. The container assembly of claim 1 , further comprising a computer processor configured to control the gas supply valve to modulate the flow of the pressurized carbon dioxide gas so as to control an amount of gas that is input into the chamber.

17. The container assembly of claim 1 , further comprising a computer processor configured to control the gas supply valve to modulate the flow of the pressurized carbon dioxide gas so as to control an amount or degree that the liquid is carbonated.

18. The container assembly of claim 1 , further comprising a drive motor configured to move a portion of the gas supply valve to control the flow of pressurized carbon dioxide gas.

19. The container assembly of claim 1 , further comprising a housing portion in which the gas tank is located, the housing portion having a recess configured to sealingly engage with a docking station to receive pressurized carbon dioxide gas from the docking station and into the gas inlet.

20. The container assembly of claim 19 , wherein the recess is configured to receive a cylindrically-shaped portion of the docking station into the recess and sealingly engage with an o-ring on the cylindrically-shaped portion.
