Abstract

A fastener clip system including a carrier and a fastener clip configured to fit over the carrier. The fastener clip includes at least one wing. The wing includes an engagement region that includes a depressed portion configured to be secured against a slot.

Claims (22)

1. A fastener clip system comprising:

a carrier configured to fit over a blade attached to a surface; and

a fastener clip configured to fit over the carrier, wherein the fastener clip comprises:

at least one wing, wherein the at least one wing is configured to engage a slot in another surface,

a first set of barbs that are bent in toward the carrier and are configured to secure the fastener clip to the carrier as the fastener clip fits over the carrier, and

a second set of barbs that are bent in toward the carrier and are configured to secure the fastener clip to the blade through corresponding channels/openings in the carrier.

2. The fastener clip system of claim 1 , wherein the fastener clip is constructed primarily of metal, and wherein the carrier is constructed primarily of rubber or plastic.

3. The fastener clip system of claim 1 , wherein the fastener clip system is configured to fasten the surface to another surface.

4. The fastener clip system of claim 3 , further comprising forming the carrier by molding rubber over the blade.

5. The fastener clip system of claim 1 , wherein the carrier compromises a top lip and a bottom lip, wherein the top lip and the bottom lip are configured to form seals against contacting surfaces.

6. A fastener assembly comprising:

a body panel comprising a blade attached to the body panel;

a carrier configured to fit over the blade;

a fastener clip configured to fit over the carrier and attach to the carrier and the blade, wherein the fastener clip comprises;

a first set of barbs that are bent in toward the carrier and are configured to secure the fastener clip to the carrier as the fastener clip fits over the carrier, and

a second set of barbs that are bent in toward the carrier and are configured to secure the fastener clip to the blade through corresponding channels/openings in the carrier

a chassis section comprising a slot, wherein the fastener clip is configured to attach to the chassis through the slot.

7. The fastener assembly of claim 6 , wherein the fastener clip comprises at least one wing, the at least one wing being configured to engage a slot.

8. The fastener assembly of claim 6 , wherein the fastener clip is metal, and wherein the carrier is rubber or plastic.

9. The fastener assembly of claim 6 , wherein the fastener clip system is configured to fasten the body panel to chassis section.

10. The fastener assembly of claim 9 , further comprising forming the carrier by molding rubber over the blade.

11. The fastener assembly of claim 6 , wherein the carrier compromises a top lip and a bottom lip, wherein the top lip and the bottom lip are configured to form seals against contacting surfaces.
