Abstract

A system including a vehicle having a network comprising a plurality of end points and a controller, where the controller includes an automation definition circuit, an automation management circuit, and an automation execution circuit. The automation definition circuit is structured to interpret an automation description. The automation management circuit is structured to provide an automated action plan in response to the automation description. The automation execution circuit is structured to provide an automation command in response to the automated action plan, wherein an end point of the plurality of end points is responsive to the automation command to implement an automated vehicle response.

Claims (36)

1. A system, comprising:

a vehicle having:

a first network comprising a first plurality of end points; and

a second network comprising a second plurality of end points; and

a controller, comprising:

an automation definition circuit structured to interpret an automation description;

an automation management circuit structured to provide, in response to the automation description, an automated action plan that comprises a data description of data to be collected; and

an automation execution circuit structured to provide an automation command in response to the automated action plan;

wherein:

a first end point, of the first plurality of end points, and a second end point, of the second plurality of end points, are both responsive to the automation command to implement an automated vehicle response; and

the automation description is a first automation description, and the automation definition circuit is further structured to:

interpret a second automation description distinct from the first automation description, and

provide, in response to the second automation description, a second automated action plan that comprises a second data description of second data to be collected that is distinct from the data to be collected of the automated action plan generated by the automation management circuit in response to the first automation description.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the automation description comprises at least a portion of a policy for the vehicle, the policy comprising non-compiled data structured to implement an automated vehicle response.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first end point of the first plurality of end points comprises an actuator of the vehicle.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first end point of the first plurality of end points comprises a sensor of the vehicle.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first end point of the first plurality of end points comprises a second controller.

6. The system of claim 5 , wherein the second controller is further configured to provide a confirmation value to the controller in response to implementing the automated vehicle response, wherein the confirmation value indicates at least one of:

the second controller received the automation command; or

the second controller performed the automated action plan.

7. The system of claim 1 , further comprising a third end point of the first plurality of end points, wherein the third end point is responsive to the automation command to implement the automated vehicle response.

8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the automated action plan comprises an event detection description, and wherein the automation execution circuit is further structured to detect an event in response to the event detection description, and to implement the automated vehicle response further in response to the detected event.

9. The system of claim 1 , wherein the automation description further comprises a vehicle operating condition, and wherein the automation management circuit is further structured to provide the automated action plan in response to the vehicle operating condition.

10. The system of claim 1 , wherein the automation description further comprises an external operating condition, and wherein the automation management circuit is further structured to provide the automated action plan in response to the external operating condition.

11. The system of claim 1 , wherein the automated action plan comprises at least one of:

an actuator response; or

a trigger description.

12. The system of claim 1 , wherein the data to be collected comprises at least one of:

a network address; or

an end point identifier.

13. The system of claim 1 , wherein the data to be collected comprises at least one of:

a trigger evaluation;

an event detection; or

an actuator response.

14. The system of claim 1 , wherein the data to be collected comprises a workflow.

15. The system of claim 6 , wherein the second controller is further configured to provide the confirmation value to the controller as a task of a workflow.
