Abstract

Filtering assemblies to be used with a flowable material container. The assembly includes a filtering screen. The assembly further includes filtering media. The filtering media includes activated carbon. The filtering media includes dissolvable material. The assembly further includes a filtering basket to contain the filtering media. The assembly further includes a valve assembly. The assembly further includes a spout with a filter. The spout further includes a removable filter. The removable filter is configured to extend beyond the end of the spout. The removable filter includes circulation holes. The removable filter is configured to be pushed into the spout by a closure cap. The removable filter is configured to contain filtering media.

Claims (37)

1. A fitment for dispensing a flowable material from a container, the fitment comprising:

a body configured to be inserted into a spout that is externally mounted to the container and to engage an inner wall of the spout, wherein the body defines a fluid passage that is in fluid communication with an internal region of the container;

a valve assembly downstream of the fluid passage, wherein the valve assembly includes a valve outlet;

a flange configured to engage the spout to limit the depth the fitment can be inserted into the spout;

a first screen in the fluid passage and a second screen downstream of the first screen and upstream of the valve outlet;

a neck located between the valve assembly and the body and that is located outside of the spout when the body is inserted into the spout, wherein the second screen is located in the neck; and

a filter media located between the first screen and the second screen, wherein when flowable material is dispensed from the container, the flowable material passes through the first and second screens and the filter media before going through the valve outlet.

2. The fitment of claim 1 , wherein the body has a locking mechanism for engaging the inner wall of the spout.

3. The fitment of claim 1 , wherein the valve outlet defines a second fluid passage that is generally perpendicular to the fluid passage of the body.

4. The fitment of claim 1 , wherein the neck has an inner wall that is coplanar with an inner wall of the body.

5. The fitment of claim 1 , wherein the body has an outer wall that is configured to slidingly engage the inner wall of the spout.

6. The fitment of claim 1 , wherein the valve assembly includes a valve member that moves with respect to the outlet.

7. The fitment of claim 1 , wherein the fluid passage defined by the body includes an inlet opposite a wall portion and wherein the second screen engages the wall portion.

8. The fitment of claim 7 , further including a neck positioned between the body and the valve assembly, the neck being in fluid communication with the fluid passage via a port below the wall portion.

9. A fitment for dispensing a flowable material from a container, the fitment comprising:

a body configured to be inserted into a spout that is externally mounted to the container, wherein the body defines a first fluid passage that is in fluid communication with an internal region of the container;

a valve assembly downstream of the first fluid passage, wherein the valve assembly includes a valve outlet that defines a second fluid passage that is generally perpendicular to the first fluid passage;

a flange configured to engage the spout to limit the depth the fitment can be inserted into the spout;

a first screen in the first fluid passage and a second screen downstream of the first screen and upstream of the valve outlet; and

a filter media located between the first screen and the second screen, wherein when flowable material is dispensed from the container, the flowable material passes through the first and second screens and the filter media before going through the valve outlet.

10. The fitment of claim 9 , wherein the body has a locking mechanism for engaging the inner wall of the spout.

11. The fitment of claim 9 , wherein the body has an outer wall that is configured to slidingly engage the inner wall of the spout.

12. The fitment of claim 9 , wherein the valve assembly includes a valve member that moves with respect to the outlet.

13. The fitment of claim 9 , wherein the first fluid passage includes an inlet opposite a wall portion and wherein the second screen engages the wall portion.

14. The fitment of claim 13 , further including a neck positioned between the body and the valve assembly, the neck being in fluid communication with the first fluid passage via a port below the wall portion.

15. The fitment of claim 9 , further including a neck located between the valve assembly and the body and that is located outside of the spout when the body is inserted into the spout.

16. The fitment of claim 15 , wherein the second screen is located in the neck.

17. The fitment of claim 15 wherein the neck has an inner wall that is coplanar with an inner wall of the body.

18. A fitment for dispensing a flowable material from a container, the fitment comprising:

a body configured to be inserted into a spout that is externally mounted to the container and to engage an inner wall of the spout, wherein the body defines a fluid passage that is in fluid communication with an internal region of the container;

a valve assembly downstream of the fluid passage, wherein the valve assembly includes a valve outlet;

a flange configured to engage the spout to limit the depth the fitment can be inserted into the spout;

a first screen in the fluid passage and a second screen downstream of the first screen and upstream of the valve outlet;

a neck located between the valve assembly and the body and that is located outside of the spout when the body is inserted into the spout, wherein the neck has an inner wall that is coplanar with an inner wall of the body; and

a filter media located between the first screen and the second screen, wherein when flowable material is dispensed from the container, the flowable material passes through the first and second screens and the filter media before going through the valve outlet.

19. The fitment of claim 18 , wherein the body has a locking mechanism for engaging the inner wall of the spout.

20. The fitment of claim 18 , wherein the valve outlet defines a second fluid passage that is generally perpendicular to the fluid passage of the body.
