Abstract

A fluoropropene composition comprising Z-1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene, E-1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene, 1,1,3,3,3-pentafluoropropene, 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene, and optionally 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane wherein the 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene being present in an amount of 0.00001 to 1.0%. A method of producing the fluoropropene, methods for using the fluoropropene and the composition formed are also disclosed.

Claims (20)

1. A composition comprising (1) E-1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene (HFO-1234ze(E), (2) Z-1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene (HFO-Z-1234ze), (3) 1,1,1-trifluoroethane (HFC-143a), and (4) 1,1,1,2,2-pentafluoropropane (HFC-245cb), wherein the amount of HFO-Z-1234ze is >0 to <0.1 weight percent, the amount of 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene (HFO-is 1234yf) is >0 to <0.2 mole percent, respectively based on the total amount of the composition, and (5) further comprising at least one additional member selected from one of 1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene (HCFO-1233zd), E-1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-butene (HCFO-E-1336mzz), 1,1,1,2,3,3,3-heptafluoropropane (HFC-227ea) and E/Z-1,2,3,3,3-pentafluoropropene (HFO-E/Z-1225ye).

2. The composition of claim 1 wherein E-1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene is present in an amount greater than 98 mole % based on the total amount of the composition.

3. The composition of claim 1 further comprising at least one of HFC-134, HFC-114, HFC-134a, HFC-152a, HFC-245fa and HCFO-1233xf.

4. The composition of claim 1 wherein the amount of HFO-Z-1234ze is >0 to <0.01 weight percent, based on the total amount of the composition.

5. The composition of claim 1 further comprising one of HFC-32, HCFC-124 and HFC-134a.

6. The composition of claim 1 wherein the additional member comprises HCFO-1233zd containing at least one of HCFO-E-1233zd and HFO-Z-1233zd.

7. The composition of claim 6 wherein the composition includes HFO-Z-1233zd in an amount of 0.001 mole percent to 0.25 mole percent, based on the total amount of the composition.

8. The composition of claim 1 wherein the additional member comprises E/Z-1,2,3,3,3-pentafluoropropene (HFO-E/Z-1225ye).

9. The composition of claim 8 further comprising HFC-227ea.

10. The composition of claim 8 further comprising at least one of CFC-114, HCFC-124 and HFC-245fa.

11. A process for transferring heat, comprising:

providing an article;

contacting the article with a heat transfer media;

wherein the heat transfer media comprises the composition of claim 1 .

12. The process of claim 11 wherein the article comprises electrical equipment.

13. A refrigeration system, comprising:

an evaporator; a condenser;

a compressor;

an expansion device; and a heat transfer media;

wherein the heat transfer media comprises the composition of claim 1 .
