Abstract

A method, apparatus, and computer program product are disclosed for self-service design, scheduling, and delivery of user-defined reports regarding promotions. The method includes receiving, from a user device, a report type and report delivery information. Based on the report type, relevant data regarding the one or more promotions is collected, using which a report is generated. The method then outputs the generated report based on the report delivery information. Optionally, analytical insights, such as trends within the data, sample size, suitability of control data, and indications of statistical significance, are generated and included in the report. A corresponding apparatus and computer program product are also provided.

Claims (44)

1 . A method for automating generation of reports regarding one or more promotions, the method comprising:

receiving, from a user device, a report type and report delivery information, the report delivery information comprising a scheduled reporting frequency dictating a frequency with which a generated report is output; and

in a plurality of instances in accordance with the scheduled reporting frequency,

collecting, based on the report type, relevant data regarding the one or more promotions;

generating, by a processor, the generated report using the relevant data; and

outputting the generated report based on the report delivery information.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the report type indicates a subscription to a standardized report.

3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising identifying, from stored data based on the report type, framework parameters for the generated report; wherein collecting the relevant data is based on the framework parameters.

4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising generating, based on the report delivery information, an analytical insight regarding the relevant data contained in the generated report,

wherein the generated report includes the analytical insight.

5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the analytical insight includes at least one selected from a group consisting of: trends within the relevant data, a sample size, suitability of control data, and an indication of statistical significance.

6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving login credentials from the user device; and

validating that the report type and report delivery information are accessible based on access rights associated with the login credentials.

7 . An apparatus for generating reports regarding one or more promotions, the apparatus comprising a processor and a memory, the memory storing computer program code that, when executed by the processor, causes the apparatus to:

receive, from a user device, a report type and report delivery information, the report delivery information comprising a scheduled reporting frequency dictating a frequency with which a generated report is output; and

in a plurality of instances in accordance with the scheduled reporting frequency,

collect, based on the report type, relevant data regarding the one or more promotions;

generate the generated report using the relevant data; and

output the generated report based on the report delivery information.

8 . The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the report type indicates a subscription to a standardized report.

9 . The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the computer program code, when executed by the processor, further causes the apparatus to identify, from stored data based on the report type, framework parameters for the generated report; wherein collecting the relevant data is based on the framework parameters.

10 . The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the computer program code, when executed by the processor, further causes the apparatus to:

generate, based on the report delivery information, an analytical insight regarding the relevant data contained in the generated report,

wherein the generated report includes the analytical insight.

11 . The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the analytical insight includes at least one selected from a group consisting of: trends within the rlevant data, a sample size, suitability of control data, and an indication of statistical significance.

12 . The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the computer program code, when executed by the processor, further causes the apparatus to

receive login credentials from the user device; and

validate that the report type and report delivery information are accessible based on access rights associated with the login credentials.

13 . A computer program product for generating reports regarding one or more promotions, the computer program product comprising a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing computer program code that, when executed by an apparatus, causes the apparatus to:

receive, from a user device, a report type and report delivery information, the report delivery information comprising a scheduled reporting frequency dictating a frequency with which a generated report is output; and

in a plurality of instances in accordance with the scheduled reporting frequency,

collect, based on the report type, relevant data regarding the one or more promotions;

generate the generated report using the relevant data; and

output the generated report based on the report delivery information.

14 . The computer program product of claim 13 , wherein the report type indicates a subscription to a standardized report.

15 . The computer program product of claim 13 , wherein the computer program code, when executed by the apparatus, further causes the apparatus to identify, from stored data based on the report type, framework parameters for the generated report; wherein collecting the relevant data is based on the framework parameters.

16 . The computer program product of claim 13 , wherein the computer program code, when executed by the apparatus, further causes the apparatus to:

generate, based on the report delivery information, an analytical insight regarding the relevant data contained in the generated report,

wherein the generated report includes the analytical insight.

17 . The computer program product of claim 16 , wherein the analytical insight includes at least one selected from a group consisting of: trends within the relevant data, a sample size, suitability of control data, and an indication of statistical significance.

18 . The computer program product of claim 13 , wherein the computer program code, when executed by the apparatus, further causes the apparatus to:

receive login credentials from the user device; and

validate that the report type and report delivery information are accessible based on access rights associated with the login credentials.
