Abstract

A system and method for providing zone-specific media to a user. As a non-limiting example, various aspects of this disclosure provide a system and method that flexibly selects and provides media content (e.g., audio content), where such content is selected based, at least in part, on a user location (e.g., location within a premises).

Claims (15)

1. A system for providing media content, the system comprising:

a network interface configured to communicate with a media presentation system at a remote premises that includes one or more zones associated with respective one or more types of rooms;

at least one processor; and

computer-readable memory in communication with the at least one processor, the memory storing:

a database that associates respective media content with a plurality of different types of rooms;

instructions that are executable by the at least one processor to cause the system to:

receive a media content request from a wireless speaker, of the media presentation system, that includes information identifying a type of room;

in response to receiving the media content request, search the database based at least in part on the type of room to identify media content that is associated with the type of room; and

provide the identified media content to the media presentation system.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the media content comprises audio content.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the media content comprises advertising media content.

4. The system of claim 3 , wherein the type of room comprises a kitchen, and wherein the advertising media content relates to food.

5. The system of claim 3 , wherein the advertising media content is configured to be played during a commercial break of a media stream.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the type of room comprises one of a kitchen, a bedroom, a bathroom, a garage, an office, a family room, or a laundry room.

7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the media content is independent of an identity of a user of the media presentation system.
