Abstract

An electronic device determines information about a target and provides the information to another electronic device that has an obstructed view of the target. The other electronic device displays an image of the target with an orientation and a location of the target.

Claims (39)

1. A method executed by an electronic scope mounted to a rifle, the method comprising:

receiving, at the electronic scope and over a wireless network, a location of a combatant that is obstructed from view of a user holding the rifle; and

enhancing the combatant that is obstructed by displaying, with a display of the electronic scope, a virtual image over the combatant where the combatant would appear on the display of the electronic scope if the combatant were not obstructed.

2. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

displaying, on the display of the electronic scope, a virtual map that simultaneously shows a location of the combatant and a location of the user.

3. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

displaying, on the display of the electronic scope, a virtual map that shows directions from a location of the user to the location of the combatant.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the virtual image that enhances the combatant displays over the combatant and has a size and a shape of the combatant.

5. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

transmitting, over the wireless network and from the electronic scope to another electronic scope, a location of the user, the location of the combatant, and information that identifies the combatant.

6. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

moving, by the electronic scope and while the combatant is obstructed, the virtual image over the combatant so the virtual image remains on the combatant while the combatant moves and is obstructed.

7. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

sensing, with the electronic scope and while the combatant is obstructed, a heat signature of the combatant; and

displaying, with the electronic scope and while the combatant is obstructed, the virtual image over the combatant where the heat signature is detected.

8. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

capturing, with one or more sensors of the electronic scope, information about the combatant; and

sharing, by the electronic scope and over the wireless network, the information to a virtual map that is shared with other users viewing the virtual map with electronic scopes.

9. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

capturing, with a camera of the electronic scope, an image of the combatant; and

sharing, by the electronic scope and over the wireless network, the image of the combatant with other electronic scopes that display the image.

10. An electronic scope that mounts to a rifle held by a user, the electronic scope comprising:

a wireless communication that receives, over a wireless network, a location of a combatant from a second electronic scope; and

a see-through display that displays a virtual map that simultaneously shows a location of the user and the location of the combatant.

The electronic scope of claim 10 , wherein the see-through display displays a virtual image over the combatant that is obstructed from view with a naked-eye of the user, and the virtual image includes virtual lines showing a shape of the combatant while the combatant is obstructed from the view with the naked-eye of the user.

12. The electronic scope of claim 10 , wherein the see-through display enhances a view of the combatant when the combatant is obstructed by highlighting a shape of the combatant.

13. The electronic scope of claim 10 further comprising:

an optical sensor that senses a heat signature of the combatant that is obstructed from view with a naked-eye of the user, wherein the see-through display displays a virtual image that outlines a shape of the combatant that is obstructed.

14. The electronic scope of claim 10 , wherein the combatant is obstructed from view of a naked-eye of the user, and the virtual map displays directions from a location of the user to the location of the combatant that is obstructed from the view of the naked-eye of the user.

15. The electronic scope of claim 10 further comprising:

one or more sensors that capture information about the combatant, wherein the wireless communication shares, with the second electronic scope and over the wireless network, the information about the combatant captured with the one or more sensors.

16. An electronic scope that mounts to a rifle held by a user, the electronic scope comprising:

a wireless communication that transmits, over a wireless network, a location of a combatant to other electronic scopes in wireless communication with the electronic scope; and

a display that displays a virtual image over the combatant to enhance a view of the combatant through the display when the combatant is obstructed from view with a naked-eye of the user, wherein the virtual image displays where the combatant would appear if the combatant were not obstructed.

17. The electronic scope of claim 16 , wherein the virtual image that enhances the combatant moves in real-time with movements of the combatant when the combatant is obstructed from the view with the naked-eye of the user.

18. The electronic scope of claim 16 , wherein the display displays a virtual map that shows a location of the combatant and locations of other users with the electronic scopes in wireless communication with the electronic scope.

19. The electronic scope of claim 16 , wherein the display displays a virtual map that simultaneously shows a location of the user and the location of the combatant.

20. The electronic scope of claim 16 further comprising:

an optical sensor that senses a heat signature of the combatant that is obstructed from the view of the naked-eye of the user, wherein the virtual image enhances the combatant by displaying virtual lines that outline a shape of the combatant.
