Abstract

The present invention relates to a technique for encoding and decoding video data, and more particularly, to a method for performing inter-prediction in an effective manner. The present invention combines an inter-prediction method using an AMVP mode and an inter-prediction method using a merge mode so as to propose a method for using the same candidate. The method for encoding video data proposed by the present invention comprises the following steps: receiving mode information on an inter-prediction method of a current block; determining, on the basis of the received mode information, whether the interprediction method to be applied to the current block is an AMVP mode or a merge mode; and selecting a candidate to derive motion information of the current block, wherein the candidate is selected in a left region, top region and corner region of the current block and in the same position block as the current block, and the AMVP mode and the merge mode are applied on the basis of the selected candidate.

Claims (25)

1. An inter prediction method performed by a decoding apparatus, the method comprising:

receiving a merge index and a merge flag for inter prediction of a current block;

deriving an inter prediction mode of the current block into a merge mode based on the merge flag;

constructing a merge candidate list for deriving motion information of the current block based on neighboring candidate blocks of the current block;

selecting a specific merge candidate from the merge candidate list based on the merge index;

deriving the motion information of the current block based on motion information of the selected merge candidate; and

performing prediction for the current block based on the derived motion information,

wherein based on the inter prediction being the merge mode, the neighboring candidate blocks include spatial neighboring blocks and a temporal neighboring block, the spatial neighboring blocks are a left neighboring block, an upper neighboring block, a bottom left corner neighboring block, an upper left corner neighboring block, an upper right corner neighboring block,

wherein the left neighboring block is a lowest block among left neighboring blocks adjacent to a left boundary of the current block, the lowest block is adjacent to an upper boundary of the bottom left corner neighboring block,

wherein the upper neighboring block is a rightmost block among upper neighboring blocks adjacent to an upper boundary of the current block, the rightmost block is adjacent to a left boundary of the upper right corner neighboring block, and

wherein the temporal neighboring block is a co-located block which is located in a reference picture.

2. A method of encoding video information performed by an encoding apparatus, the method comprising:

determining an inter prediction mode of the current block, wherein the inter prediction mode is a merge mode;

constructing a merge candidate list for deriving motion information of the current block based on neighboring candidate blocks of the current block;

selecting a specific merge candidate from the merge candidate list;

generating the motion information of the current block based on motion information of the selected merge candidate;

generating a prediction sample of the current block based on the generated motion information;

generating a residual sample of the current block based on the prediction sample;

generating residual information for the residual sample and a merge index indicating the selected specific merge candidate from the merge candidate list; and

encoding video information including a merge flag for the determined inter prediction mode, the merge index and the residual information,

wherein based on the inter prediction mode being the merge mode, the neighboring candidate blocks include a left neighboring block, an upper neighboring block, a bottom left corner neighboring block, an upper left corner neighboring block, an upper right corner neighboring block, and a temporal neighboring block,

wherein the left neighboring block is a lowest block among left neighboring blocks adjacent to a left boundary of the current block, the lowest block is adjacent to an upper boundary of the bottom left corner neighboring block,

wherein the upper neighboring block is a rightmost block among upper neighboring blocks adjacent to an upper boundary of the current block, the rightmost block is adjacent to a left boundary of the upper right corner neighboring block, and

wherein the temporal neighboring block is a co-located block which is located in a reference picture.

3. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing video information including a merge flag, a merge index and residual information encoded by the method of encoding video information of claim 2 .
