Abstract

Doorbells can send data to each other to enable a first doorbell user to warn a second doorbell user regarding a suspicious visitor. A first user can indicate a first trait of a visitor via a first remote computing device. The first user can create a user group to enable the members of the user group to use their doorbells to take pictures of suspicious visitors and to send the pictures of the suspicious visitors to other members of the user group.

Claims (32)

1. A computer-readable, non-transitory, programmable product, comprising code, executable by a processor, for causing the processor to cause a doorbell system comprising a first doorbell in a first location to do the following:

receive an alert;

receive a photo;

receive a set of information from a first remote computing device of a plurality of remote computing devices;

send the photo and the set of information to at least one amongst the plurality of remote computing devices other than the first remote computing device;

display a map on the first remote computing device, the map comprising a first icon representative of the first doorbell in the first location; and

display information on the first remote computing device regarding the first doorbell in response to selecting the first icon on the map.

2. The computer-readable, non-transitory, programmable product of claim 1 , wherein the alert comprises a request for help.

3. The computer-readable, non-transitory, programmable product of claim 1 , wherein the set of information includes aggregated doorbell information taken from information gathered from a plurality of doorbell cameras.

4. The computer-readable, non-transitory, programmable product of claim 3 , wherein at least one doorbell camera of the plurality of doorbell cameras is configured to record video.

5. The computer-readable, non-transitory, programmable product of claim 1 , wherein the set of information is selected from the group consisting of a written description, a recorded description, a video, and a combination thereof.

6. The computer-readable, non-transitory, programmable product of claim 1 , wherein the first doorbell comprises a first camera coupled to a first building.

7. The computer-readable, non-transitory, programmable product of claim 1 , wherein the alert is received in response to analytics based on the set of information.

8. The computer-readable, non-transitory, programmable product of claim 1 , wherein the doorbell system comprises a doorbell, including a doorbell camera, the processor further configured to receive a push notification from at least one amongst a plurality of remote computing devices.

9. The computer-readable, non-transitory, programmable product of claim 8 , wherein the processor is further configured to cause the photo to be taken by the doorbell camera.

10. The computer-readable, non-transitory, programmable product of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to add a plurality of remote computing devices to a network.

11. The computer-readable, non-transitory, programmable product of claim 10 , wherein the processor is further configured to receive photographic information from at least one amongst a plurality of remote computing devices.

12. The computer-readable, non-transitory, programmable product of claim 11 , wherein the processor is further configured to match the photographic information with information in a database using computer recognition.

13. A computer-readable, non-transitory, programmable product, comprising code, executable by a processor, for causing the processor to cause a doorbell system comprising i) a first doorbell located in a first location, and ii) a second doorbell in a second location, to do the following:

receive an alert;

receive a photo;

receive a set of information from a first remote computing device of a plurality of remote computing devices;

send the photo and the set of information to at least one amongst the plurality of remote computing devices other than the first remote computing device;

display a map on the first remote computing device, the map comprising a first icon representative of the first doorbell in the first location; and

display a second icon representative of the second doorbell in the second location on the map.

14. The computer-readable, non-transitory, programmable product of claim 13 , wherein the processor is further configured to add the second doorbell to a group of doorbells in response to selecting the second icon on the map.

15. The computer-readable, non-transitory, programmable product of claim 13 , wherein the processor is further configured to send a prompt to an owner of the second doorbell to join a group of doorbells in response to selecting the second icon on the map.

16. The computer-readable, non-transitory, programmable product of claim 13 , wherein the set of information includes aggregated doorbell information taken from information gathered from at least one of the first doorbell and the second doorbell.

17. The computer-readable, non-transitory, programmable product of claim 13 , wherein the processor is further configured to receive a push notification from at least one remote computing device amongst the plurality of remote computing devices.

18. The computer-readable, non-transitory, programmable product of claim 12 , wherein the network includes the database.

19. The computer-readable, non-transitory, programmable product of claim 9 , wherein the processor is configured to cause the doorbell to record audio.

20. The computer-readable, non-transitory, programmable product of claim 19 , wherein the audio is recorded in connection with the photo being taken.
