Abstract

In an embodiment, methods for managing a point of sale (POS) device are provided. A web server may receive a request to associate the POS device with a merchant account associated with one or more physical locations. The request may include an identification code of the merchant account. The web server may receive an initialization message from the POS device and the initialization message may indicate a successful login at the POS device. A selected physical location may be received and linked to the POS device based on the identification code of the merchant account and responsive to receiving the selected physical location. An inventory of the selected physical location may then be synced to the POS device.

receiving, at a web server, a plurality of requests to associate a plurality of corresponding POS devices with a merchant account associated with one or more physical locations, wherein each request of the plurality of requests includes an identification code of the merchant account, and wherein the identification code is the same for each request of the plurality of requests;

for each request of the plurality of requests:

receiving, at the web server, an initialization message form a corresponding POS device, wherein the initialization message indicates a successful login at the corresponding POS device;

receiving, at the web server, a selected physical location from the one or more physical locations, wherein the selected physical location in the same for each request of the plurality of requests;

linking, by the web server, the corresponding POS device to the selected physical location based on the identification code of the merchant account and responsive to receiving the selected physical location; and

syncing, by the web server, the corresponding POS device to an inventory of the selected physical location responsive to linking the corresponding POS device to the selected physical location;

receiving, by the web server and from one of the plurality of corresponding POS devices, an action associated with the inventory of the selected physical location;

updating, by the web server, the inventory of the selected physical location based on the action resulting in an updated inventory of the selected physical location; and

transmitting, by the web server and in response to the updated inventory of the selected physical location, the updated inventory of the selected physical location automatically to the plurality of corresponding POS devices.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the plurality of requests to associate at least one of the plurality of corresponding POS devices with the merchant account is received from a user device that is different from the at least one of the plurality of corresponding POS devices.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein for at least one of the plurality of requests, the method further comprises:

receiving, by the web server, a store identifier associated with the merchant account; and

linking, by the web server, at least one of the plurality of corresponding POS devices to the store identifier.

4. The method of claim 2 , wherein the selected physical location is received from the user device.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein syncing the corresponding POS device to the inventory of the selected physical location comprises:

accessing, by the web server, a database to obtain the inventory associated with a store of a merchant.

6. A system for remotely adding a POS device, the system comprising:

a web server configured to:

receive a plurality of requests to associate a plurality of corresponding POS devices with a merchant account associated with one or more physical locations, wherein each request of the plurality of requests includes an identification code of the merchant account, and wherein the identification code is the same for each request of the plurality of requests;

for each request of the plurality of requests:

receiving an initialization message from a corresponding POS device, wherein the initialization message indicates a successful login at the corresponding POS device;

receiving a selected physical location from the one or more physical locations, wherein the selected physical location is the same for each request of the plurality of requests;

linking the corresponding POS device to the selected physical location based on the identification code of the merchant account and responsive to receiving the selected physical location; and

syncing the corresponding POS device to an inventory of the selected physical location responsive to linking the corresponding POS device to the selected physical location;

receive, from one of the plurality of corresponding POS devices, an action associated with the inventory of the selected physical location;

update the inventory of the selected physical location based on the action resulting in an updated inventory of the selected physical location; and

transmit, in response to the updated inventory of the selected physical location, the updated inventory of the selected physical location automatically to the plurality of corresponding POS devices.

7. The system of claim 6 , wherein at least one of the plurality of requests to associate at least one of the plurality of corresponding POS devices with the merchant account is received from a user device that is different from the at least one of the plurality of corresponding POS devices.

8. The system of claim 6 , wherein for at least one of the plurality of requests, the web server is further configured to:

receive a store identifier associated with the merchant account; and

link at least one of the corresponding POS device to the store identifier.

9. The system of claim 7 , wherein the selected physical location is received from the user device.

10. The system of claim 6 , wherein syncing the corresponding POS device to the inventory of the selected physical location, the web server is further configured to:

access a database to obtain the inventory associated with a store of a merchant.

11. A web server for remotely adding a POS device, the web server configured to:

receive a plurality of requests to associate a plurality of corresponding POS devices with a merchant account associated with one or more physical locations, wherein each request of the plurality of requests includes an identification code of the merchant account, and wherein the identification code is the same for each request of the plurality of requests;

for each request of the plurality of requests:

receiving an initialization message from a corresponding POS device, wherein the initialization message indicates a successful login at the corresponding POS device;

receiving a selected physical location from the one or more physical locations, wherein the selected physical location is the same for each of the plurality of requests;

linking the corresponding POS device to the selected physical location based on the identification code of the merchant account and responsive to receiving the selected physical location; and

syncing the corresponding POS device to an inventory of the selected physical location responsive to linking the corresponding POS device to the selected physical location;

receive, from one of the corresponding plurality of POS devices, an action associated with the inventory of the selected physical location;

update the inventory of the selected physical location based on the action resulting in an updated inventory of the selected physical location; and

transmit, in response to the updated inventory of the selected physical location, the updated inventory of the selected physical location automatically to the plurality of corresponding POS devices.

12. The web server of claim 11 , wherein the at least one of the plurality of requests to associate at least one of the plurality of corresponding POS devices with the merchant account is received from a user device that is different from the at least one of the plurality of corresponding POS devices.

13. The web server of claim 11 , wherein for at least one of the plurality of requests, the web server is further configured to:

receive a store identifier associated with the merchant account; and

link at least one of the plurality of corresponding POS devices to the store identifier.

14. The web server of claim 11 , wherein each physical location of the one or more physical locations has its own respective inventory.

15. The method of claim 1 , wherein the identification code of the merchant account is preprogrammed in at least one memory of at least one corresponding POS device.

16. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

determining, by the web server, the updated inventory is below a threshold; and

transmitting, by the web server and in response to determining the updated inventory is below the threshold, a low inventory identification to the plurality of corresponding POS devices.
