Abstract

Methods, systems, and computer program products. A virtual canvas is presented in an active area of an online meeting facility that renders participant-specific online virtual canvas interactions raised by a respective plurality of users' devices. Users can see and hear each other's interactions during an virtual canvas session. Annotations include drawings, content object edits, voice annotations, etc. that correspond to a displayed portion of a content object of a content management system (CMS). Based on the interactions and/or inferences made based on those interactions, the virtual canvas system generates commands to be executed by the content management system. Characteristics of interactions between users can be enriched by drawing information from the content management system and using such information in combination with the interactions themselves. The CMS can recommend teams, and action items, and the CMS can provide hints to participants, so as to facilitate more effective engagement between the participants.

Claims (56)

1 . A method for processing a series of participant interactions in an online virtual canvas, the method comprising:

presenting an online virtual canvas as an active area of an online meeting facility that renders participant-specific online virtual canvas interactions from a respective plurality of user devices;

gathering information from session events that derive from the participant-specific online virtual canvas interactions; and

generating one or more inferences, the one or more inferences based at least in part on the information of the session events.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising generating a session profile, wherein the session profile comprises at least one of the one or more inferences.

3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the session profile comprises at least one of,

one or more action items, or

a textual description of a topic or keyword, or

a textual description of ideas or themes, or

one or more groupings of uploaded objects.

4 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the session profile comprises an agenda, at least one inferred action item, and at least one inferred owner corresponding to the at least one inferred action item.

5 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the session profile comprises at least one of, content object changes, or user-specific engagement summaries.

6 . The method of claim 5 , further comprising: delivering the user-specific engagement summaries to specific users.

7 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the session profile comprises summary metrics, and wherein the summary metrics comprise a real-time summary stream.

8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

isolating collaboration-related features or passages by considering meanings of human-readable words within analyzed session events.

9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the collaboration-related features or passages comprise at least one of, schedules, action items, workflow stage gate assessments, or workflow triggers.

10 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

generating a command to be executed by a content management system; and

delivering the command to the content management system.

11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein execution of the command causes a change to a state of the content management system, or wherein execution of the command reports a state of the content management system.

12 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising adding a user to one or more collaboration groups, or adding highlighting of a portion of a content object as metadata of the content object.

13 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

forming grouping inferences, wherein the grouping inferences comprise content object groupings, or team groupings.

14 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the team groupings are formed based on an implied team, wherein the implied team is composed of users who interact with a particular content object.

15 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising correlating the session events with session metadata.

16 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the session metadata comprises at least one of, a person's identification, a transformed version of the correlated session events, or a generated preview of a content object or its corresponding metadata.

17 . The method of claim 1 , wherein at least some of the session events comprises one or more of, mouse movement quantities, mouse movement types, duration of mouse reactions, a duration of mouse hovering, or a number of dwell minutes.

18 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

forming a team based on a participant's association with a workflow; and

assigning, to at least one member of the team, at least some tasks pertaining to the workflow.

A non-transitory computer readable medium having stored thereon a sequence of instructions which, when stored in memory and executed by one or more processors causes the one or more processors to perform a set of acts for processing a series of participant interactions in an online virtual canvas, the set of acts comprising:

presenting an online virtual canvas as an active area of an online meeting facility that renders participant-specific online virtual canvas interactions from a respective plurality of user devices;

gathering information from session events that derive from the participant-specific online virtual canvas interactions; and

generating one or more inferences, the one or more inferences based at least in part on the information of the session events.

The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 19 , further comprising instructions which, when stored in memory and executed by the one or more processors causes the one or more processors to perform acts of generating a session profile, wherein the session profile comprises at least one of the one or more inferences.

21 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 20 , wherein the session profile comprises at least one of,

one or more action items, or

a textual description of a topic or keyword, or

a textual description of ideas or themes, or

one or more groupings of uploaded objects.

22 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 20 , wherein the session profile comprises an agenda, at least one inferred action item, and at least one inferred owner corresponding to the at least one inferred action item.

23 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 20 , wherein the session profile comprises at least one of, content object changes, or user-specific engagement summaries.

24 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 23 , further comprising instructions which, when stored in memory and executed by the one or more processors causes the one or more processors to perform acts of: delivering the user-specific engagement summaries to specific users.

25 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 20 , wherein the session profile comprises summary metrics, and wherein the summary metrics comprise a real-time summary stream.

26 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 19 , further comprising:

isolating collaboration-related features or passages by considering meanings of human-readable words within analyzed session events.

27 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 26 , wherein the collaboration-related features or passages comprise at least one of, schedules, action items, workflow stage gate assessments, or workflow triggers.

28 . A system for processing a series of participant interactions in an online virtual canvas, the system comprising:

a storage medium having stored thereon a sequence of instructions; and

one or more processors that execute the sequence of instructions to cause the one or more processors to perform a set of acts, the set of acts comprising,

presenting an online virtual canvas as an active area of an online meeting facility that renders participant-specific online virtual canvas interactions from a respective plurality of user devices;

gathering information from session events that derive from the participant-specific online virtual canvas interactions; and

generating one or more inferences, the one or more inferences based at least in part on the information of the session events.

29 . The system of claim 28 , further comprising generating a session profile, wherein the session profile comprises at least one of the one or more inferences.

30 . The system of claim 29 , wherein the session profile comprises an agenda, at least one inferred action item, and at least one inferred owner corresponding to the at least one inferred action item.
