Abstract

Embodiments of this application relate to a multi-link communication method, a traffic-to-link mapping method, and a device. An example method includes a first multi-link device receiving a message from a second multi-link device, wherein the message carries traffic-to-link mapping information. The example method further includes the first multi-link device establishing or updating a traffic-to-link mapping relationship based on the traffic-to-link mapping information.

Claims (36)

1 . A method, comprising:

receiving, by a first multi-link device, a message from a second multi-link device, wherein the message carries traffic-to-link mapping information; and

establishing or updating, by the first multi-link device, a traffic-to-link mapping relationship based on the traffic-to-link mapping information.

2 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the message is an association response frame or an Extremely High Throughput (EHT) action frame.

3 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the message further comprises ninth indication information indicating a traffic direction of the traffic-to-link mapping information, and wherein the traffic direction is one of uplink, downlink, or uplink and downlink.

4 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the traffic-to-link mapping information is carried in a media access control (MAC) header or in an information element indicating the traffic-to-link mapping relationship.

The method according to claim 1 , wherein the message comprises an information element indicating the traffic-to-link mapping relationship, the information element carries a second preset field, and the second preset field indicates the first multi-link device to establish or update the traffic-to-link mapping relationship in a default mapping manner.

6 . The method according to claim 5 , wherein the default mapping manner comprises: mapping, by the first multi-link device, each traffic identifier to each link on which multi-link communication is established.

7 . The method according to claim 5 , wherein the information element indicating the traffic-to-link mapping relationship does not carry a traffic-to-link mapping information field.

8 . The method according to claim 7 , wherein the traffic-to-link mapping information field comprises:

one or more link profile fields, wherein each of the one or more link profile fields comprises identifier information of a link and identifier information of one or more pieces of traffic mapped to the link; or

one or more traffic profile fields, wherein each of the one or more traffic profile fields comprises identifier information of traffic and identifier information of one or more links to which the traffic is mapped.

The method according to claim 5 , wherein a length of the second preset field is 1 bit; and in response to at least that a value of the second preset field is 1, the second preset field indicates the first multi-link device to establish or update the traffic-to-link mapping relationship in the default mapping manner.

10 . A method, comprising:

generating, by a second multi-link device, a message, wherein the message carries traffic-to-link mapping information; and

sending, by the second multi-link device, the message to a first multi-link device.

11 . The method according to claim 10 , wherein the message is an association response frame or an Extremely High Throughput (EHT) action frame.

12 . The method according to claim 10 , wherein the message further comprises ninth indication information indicating a traffic direction of the traffic-to-link mapping information, and wherein the traffic direction is one of uplink, downlink, or uplink and downlink.

13 . The method according to claim 10 , wherein the traffic-to-link mapping information is carried in a media access control (MAC) header or in an information element indicating the traffic-to-link mapping relationship.

The method according to claim 10 , wherein the message comprises an information element indicating the traffic-to-link mapping relationship, the information element carries a second preset field, and the second preset field indicates the first multi-link device to establish or update the traffic-to-link mapping relationship in a default mapping manner.

15 . The method according to claim 14 , wherein the default mapping manner comprises: mapping, by the first multi-link device, each traffic identifier to each link on which multi-link communication is established.

16 . The method according to claim 14 , wherein the information element indicating the traffic-to-link mapping relationship does not carry a traffic-to-link mapping information field.

17 . The method according to claim 16 , wherein the traffic-to-link mapping information field comprises:

one or more link profile fields, wherein each of the one or more link profile fields comprises identifier information of a link and identifier information of one or more pieces of traffic mapped to the link; or

one or more traffic profile fields, wherein each of the one or more traffic profile fields comprises identifier information of traffic and identifier information of one or more links to which the traffic is mapped.

The method according to claim 14 , wherein a length of the second preset field is 1 bit; and in response to at least that a value of the second preset field is 1, the second preset field indicates the first multi-link device to establish or update the traffic-to-link mapping relationship in the default mapping manner.

19 . A multi-link device, comprising:

at least one processor; and

at least one memory coupled to the at least one processor and storing programming instructions for execution by the at least one processor to cause the multi-link device to:

receive a message from a second multi-link device, wherein the message carries traffic-to-link mapping information; and

establish or update a traffic-to-link mapping relationship based on the traffic-to-link mapping information.

20 . A multi-link device, comprising:

at least one processor; and

at least one memory coupled to the at least one processor and storing programming instructions for execution by the at least one processor to cause the multi-link device to:

generate a message, wherein the message carries traffic-to-link mapping information; and

send the message to a first multi-link device.
