Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a wearable device with a bridge portion and systems/methods relating to the device. Preferred embodiments may include two flexible wings and a bridge connecting the two wings. In some embodiments, the upper surface of the bridge can be non-adhesive and uncoupled to the flexible wing such that the flexible wing can be decoupled from the bridge when the adhesive is adhered to the surface of a user. The bridge can be narrower in some portions, and extend around the housing of the monitor. The bridge can extend beneath the housing and bisect the two flexible wings.

Claims (17)

1. A monitoring device configured to attach to a user, the monitoring device comprising:

a housing comprising a processor;

a wing extending from the housing and configured to conform to a surface of a user, the wing comprising:

an electrode configured to detect a physiological signal of the user, the electrode in electrical communication with the processor;

an adhesive layer coupled to the bottom surface of the wing, the adhesive layer configured to adhere the wearable device to the user; and

wherein the wing comprises a first layer of a first material comprising perforations through a thickness of the first layer and a second layer of a second material configured to form a fluid seal to prevent liquid from the ambient environment from reaching the adhesive layer.

2. The monitoring device of claim 1 , wherein the adhesive layer comprises a plurality of channels.

3. The monitoring device of claim 1 , wherein the channels form a lattice.

4. The monitoring device of claim 1 , wherein the adhesive layer comprises a wicking material.

5. The monitoring device of claim 4 , wherein the wicking material is positioned in a channel.

6. The monitoring device of claim 1 , wherein the second material comprises polyurethane.

7. The monitoring device of claim 1 , wherein the perforations are configured to transmit moisture.

8. The monitoring device of claim 1 , wherein the perforations through the first layer are configured to provide the wing with anisotropic properties within a plane parallel to a bottom surface of the wing.

9. The monitoring device of claim 1 , wherein the wing comprises a structural reinforcement member.

10. The monitoring device of claim 9 , wherein the structural reinforcement member is positioned along a peripheral edge of the wing.

11. The monitoring device of claim 1 , wherein the first layer comprises polyethylene terephthalate.

12. The monitoring device of claim 1 , wherein the adhesive layer comprises a central void.
