Abstract

A computer-assisted method including obtaining healthcare records from multiple different data sources that each provide information regarding a corresponding type of healthcare events, identifying healthcare records from the multiple different data sources that are for a healthcare event associated with a particular individual and that occurred during a particular period of time, and generating a composite record for the particular individual for the particular period of time, and storing the composite record in a database of composite records. The composite record include an identifier for the particular individual, a pharmaceutical transactions array, where each entry in the pharmaceutical transactions array represents a pharmaceutical transaction that occurred during the particular period of time, and a medical visit array, where each entry in the medical visit array represents a medical visit that occurred during the particular period of time.

Claims (55)

1 . A computer implemented method comprising:

receiving, by one or more processors, a first request comprising a criterion of a healthcare event, the first request seeking to identify one or more anonymous individuals associated with the healthcare event;

transmitting, by the one or more processors and in parallel to a plurality of servers that satisfy the criterion of the healthcare event and store data of a composite record database distributed between the plurality of servers, a second request to identify the one or more anonymous individuals, the plurality of servers storing, in the composite record database, searchable and anonymous composite records for anonymous individuals associated with healthcare events, the composite records in the composite record database including data obtained from a plurality of source databases, each server of the plurality of servers storing composite records associated with a respective time period, wherein each composite record comprises a pharmaceutical transactions array and a medical visit array, wherein the pharmaceutical transaction array and the medical visit array comprise different respective data structures, the pharmaceutical transaction array indexed by a first anonymous tag, the medical visit array indexed by a second anonymous tag different from the first anonymous tag, wherein a mapping of information provides a mapping between the first anonymous tag and the second anonymous tag, wherein the first and second anonymous tags do not reveal information that identifies an anonymous individual;

receiving, by the one or more processors and from one or more of the plurality of servers, one or more composite records for the one or more anonymous individuals that satisfy the criterion of the healthcare event; and

providing, by the one or more processors, a response to the first request, the response comprising the one or more received composite records for the one or more anonymous individuals.

The computer implemented method of claim 1 , wherein each of the composite records represents a single source of medical data for an individual and includes information describing a plurality of healthcare events with which the individual is associated, the plurality of healthcare events occurring during a time period.

3 . The computer implemented method of claim 2 , wherein each of the composite records comprises data entries that represent correlated events for the individual for the time period, the correlated events comprising:

a pharmaceutical transaction array for the individual from a pharmaceutical transaction database, the pharmaceutical transaction array comprising an entry for each pharmaceutical transaction associated with the individual.

4 . The computer implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

distributing, by the one or more processors, each of the one or more composite records associated with a first time period to a server of the plurality of servers, each server of the plurality of servers storing composite records associated with a second time period, the first time period falling within the second time period.

5 . The computer implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

associating, by the one or more processors, an anonymous tag with each of the one or more composite records, the anonymous tag representing an identification of an individual associated with a composite record without revealing personal identification information of the individual and the anonymous tag being encrypted using a doubly encrypted key.

6 . The computer implemented method of claim 5 , wherein the first request further comprises data indicative of the anonymous tag, and the method further comprises:

transmitting, by the one or more processors and to the plurality of servers, the second request to identify the one or more composite records for an individual associated with the anonymous tag;

wherein the one or more composite records associated with the individual of the anonymous tag are received by the one or more processors from the plurality of servers; and

wherein the response to the first request is provided by the one or more processors, the response comprising the one or more received composite records for the individual of the anonymous tag.

7 . The computer implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the first request indicates the healthcare event occurs within a specific time range, and the composite records are received for the anonymous individual and for the healthcare event occurring within the specific time range.

8 . The computer implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the first request indicates an anonymous tag for the individual, and the records are received for the individual associated with the anonymous tag.

9 . The computer implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the first request comprises data indicative of a medical event occurring within a specific time range;

wherein the second request to identify the one or more composite records for individuals that include the medical event occurring between the specific time range is transmitted by the one or more processors to the plurality of servers;

wherein the one or more composite records for the individuals that include the medical event occurring between the specific time range are received by the one or more processors from the plurality of servers; and

wherein the response to the first request comprises the one or more received composite records for the individuals that include the medical event occurring between the specific time range.

10 . A system comprising:

one or more computers and one or more storage devices storing instructions that are operable, when executed by the one or more computers, to cause the one or more computers to perform operations comprising:

receiving, by one or more processors of the one or more computers, a first request comprising a criterion of a healthcare event, the first request seeking to identify one or more anonymous individuals associated with the healthcare event;

transmitting, by the one or more processors and in parallel to a plurality of servers that satisfy the criterion of the healthcare event and store data of a composite record database distributed between the plurality of servers, a second request to identify the one or more anonymous individuals, the plurality of servers storing, in the composite record database, searchable and anonymous composite records for anonymous individuals associated with healthcare events, the composite records in the composite record database including data obtained from a plurality of source databases, each server of the plurality of servers storing composite records associated with a respective time period, wherein each composite record comprises a pharmaceutical transactions array and a medical visit array, wherein the pharmaceutical transaction array and the medical visit array comprise different respective data structures, the pharmaceutical transaction array indexed by a first anonymous tag, the medical visit array indexed by a second anonymous tag different from the first anonymous tag, wherein a mapping of information provides a mapping between the first anonymous tag and the second anonymous tag, wherein the first and second anonymous tags do not reveal information that identifies an anonymous individual;

receiving, by the one or more processors and from one or more of the plurality of servers, one or more composite records for the one or more anonymous individuals that satisfy the criterion of the healthcare event; and

providing, by the one or more processors, a response to the first request, the response comprising the one or more received composite records for the one or more anonymous individuals.

The system of claim 10 , wherein each of the composite records represents a single source of medical data for an individual and includes information describing a plurality of healthcare events with which the individual is associated, the plurality of healthcare events occurring during a time period.

12 . The system of claim 11 , wherein each of the composite records comprises data entries that represent correlated events for the individual for the time period, the correlated events comprising:

a pharmaceutical transaction array for the individual from a pharmaceutical transaction database, the pharmaceutical transaction array comprising an entry for each pharmaceutical transaction associated with the individual.

13 . The system of claim 10 , further comprising:

distributing, by the one or more processors, each of the one or more composite records associated with a first time period to a server of the plurality of servers, each server of the plurality of servers storing composite records associated with a second time period, the first time period falling within the second time period.

14 . The system of claim 10 , further comprising:

associating, by the one or more processors, an anonymous tag with each of the one or more composite records, the anonymous tag representing an identification of an individual associated with a composite record without revealing personal identification information of the individual and the anonymous tag being encrypted using a doubly encrypted key.

15 . The system of claim 14 , wherein the first request further comprises data indicative of the anonymous tag, and the operations further comprise:

transmitting, by the one or more processors and to the plurality of servers, the second request to identify the one or more composite records for an individual associated with the anonymous tag;

wherein the one or more composite records associated with the individual of the anonymous tag are received by the one or more processors from the plurality of servers; and

wherein the response to the first request is provided by the one or more processors, the response comprising the one or more received composite records for the individual of the anonymous tag.

16 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the first request indicates the healthcare event occurs within a specific time range, and the composite records are received for the anonymous individual and for the healthcare event occurring within the specific time range.

17 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the first request indicates an anonymous tag for the individual, and the records are received for the individual associated with the anonymous tag.

18 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the first request comprises data indicative of a medical event occurring within a specific time range;

wherein the second request to identify the one or more composite records for individuals that include the medical event occurring between the specific time range is transmitted by the one or more processors to the plurality of servers;

wherein the one or more composite records for the individuals that include the medical event occurring between the specific time range are received by the one or more processors from the plurality of servers; and

wherein the response to the first request comprises the one or more received composite records for the individuals that include the medical event occurring between the specific time range.

19 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing software comprising instructions executable by one or more computers which, upon such execution, cause the one or more computers to perform operations comprising:

receiving, by one or more processors, a first request comprising a criterion of a healthcare event, the first request seeking to identify one or more anonymous individuals associated with the healthcare event;

transmitting, by the one or more processors and in parallel to a plurality of servers that satisfy the criterion of the healthcare event and store data of a composite record database distributed between the plurality of servers, a second request to identify the one or more anonymous individuals, the plurality of servers storing, in the composite record database, searchable and anonymous composite records for anonymous individuals associated with healthcare events, the composite records in the composite record database including data obtained from a plurality of source databases, each server of the plurality of servers storing composite records associated with a respective time period, wherein each composite record comprises a pharmaceutical transactions array and a medical visit array, wherein the pharmaceutical transaction array and the medical visit array comprise different respective data structures, the pharmaceutical transaction array indexed by a first anonymous tag, the medical visit array indexed by a second anonymous tag different from the first anonymous tag, wherein a mapping of information provides a mapping between the first anonymous tag and the second anonymous tag, wherein the first and second anonymous tags do not reveal information that identifies an anonymous individual;

receiving, by the one or more processors and from one or more of the plurality of servers, one or more composite records for the one or more anonymous individuals that satisfy the criterion of the healthcare event; and

providing, by the one or more processors, a response to the first request, the response comprising the one or more received composite records for the one or more anonymous individuals.

The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 19 , wherein each of the composite records represents a single source of medical data for an individual and includes information describing a plurality of healthcare events with which the individual is associated, the plurality of events occurring during a time period.

21 . The computer implemented method of claim 2 , wherein each of the composite records comprises data entries that represent correlated events for the individual for the time period, the correlated events comprising:

a medical visit array for the individual from a medical visit database, the medical visit array comprising an entry for each medical visit associated with the individual.

22 . The system of claim 12 , wherein each of the composite records comprises data entries that represent correlated events for the individual for the time period, the correlated events comprising:

a medical visit array for the individual from a medical visit database, the medical visit array comprising an entry for each medical visit associated with the individual.
