Abstract

Systems and methods are disclosed for a first application associated with a first media sharing platform to incorporate context of a post from a second application associated with a second media sharing platform into a first user interface (UI) of the first application associated with the first media sharing platform. The method includes receiving, based on a post from a second UI of the second application, a user request pertaining to a media content item referenced in the post in the second UI of the second application, the second UI comprising post content associated with the media content item and a first plurality of UI elements. The method further includes presenting, within the first UI of the first application, the post content from the second UI of the second application and at least one control corresponding to at least one control from the second UI of the second application, the first UI to present a second plurality of UI elements and the post content separately from the media player. The method also includes upon a selection of one of the second plurality of UI elements, causing the user to be returned to the second UI of the second application and to be presented with the post, the post content and the one or more first UI elements in the second UI.

Claims (31)

receiving, by the first application and based on a post from a second UI of the second application, a user request pertaining to a media content item referenced in the post in the second UI of the second application, the second UI of the second application identifying the media content item and comprising post content associated with the media content item and a first plurality of UI elements, wherein the first plurality of UI elements comprises at least one control and a content sharing button allowing a user to share the media content item on a plurality of applications associated with a plurality of media sharing platforms comprising the first media sharing platform, and wherein each of the plurality of media sharing platforms and the second media sharing platform are separate platforms;

presenting, by the first application within the first UI of the first application, the post content from the second UI of the second application and at least one control corresponding to the at least one control from the second UI of the second application, the first UI of the first application comprising a media player to play the media content item referenced in the post displayed in the second UI of the second application, the first UI to present a second plurality of UI elements and the post content separately from the media player, wherein the second plurality of UI elements presented separately from the media player comprise the at least one control corresponding to the at least one control from the second UI of the second application; and

upon a selection of one of the second plurality of UI elements presented separately from the media player in the first UI, causing the user to be returned to the second UI of the second application and to be presented with the post, the post content and the one or more first UI elements in the second UI.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the user request is received in response to a selection of a representation of the media content item within the post displayed in the second UI.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first plurality of UI elements and the post content are provided in relation to one or more annotations associated with the media content item.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the first plurality of UI elements and the post content are prioritized in relation to the one or more annotations associated with the media content item.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the media content item is provided for presentation in a first portion of the first UI, and the first plurality of UI elements and the post content are provided for presentation in a second portion of the first UI.

6. The method of claim 5 , wherein the first portion and the second portion of the first UI are to be presented to the user in parallel or consecutively.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein causing the user to be returned to the second UI comprises enabling the user to switch back to the second application from the first UI of the first application.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the first application or the second application is an application associated with a social networking platform of a plurality of social networking platforms.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the second application is configured to interface with applications associated with the plurality of social networking platforms to allow a user to switch between the second application and any of the applications associated with the plurality of social networking platforms via a single operation.

10. A system for a first application associated with a first media sharing platform to incorporate context of a post from a second application associated with a second media sharing platform into a first user interface (UI) of the first application associated with the first media sharing platform, the system comprising:

a memory; and

a processing device, coupled to the memory, to perform operations comprising:

receiving, by the first application and based on a post from a second UI of the second application, a user request pertaining to a media content item referenced in the post in the second UI of the second application, the second UI of the second application identifying the media content item and comprising post content associated with the media content item and a first plurality of UI elements, wherein the first plurality of UI elements comprises at least one control and a content sharing button allowing a user to share the media content item on a plurality of applications associated with a plurality of media sharing platforms comprising the first media sharing platform, and wherein each of the plurality of media sharing platforms and the second media sharing platform are separate platforms;

presenting, by the first application within the first UI of the first application, the post content from the second UI of the second application and at least one control corresponding to the at least one control from the second UI of the second application, the first UI of the first application comprising a media player to play the media content item referenced in the post displayed in the second UI of the second application, the first UI to present a second plurality of UI elements and the post content separately from the media player, wherein the second plurality of UI elements presented separately from the media player comprise the at least one control corresponding to the at least one control from the second UI of the second application; and

upon a selection of one of the second plurality of UI elements presented separately from the media player in the first UI, causing the user to be returned to the second UI of the second application and to be presented with the post, the post content and the one or more first UI elements in the second UI.

11. The system of claim 10 , wherein the first plurality of UI elements and the post content are provided in relation to one or more annotations associated with the media content item.

12. The system of claim 11 , wherein the first plurality of UI elements and the post content are prioritized in relation to the one or more annotations associated with the media content item.

13. The system of claim 10 , wherein the media content item is provided for presentation in a first portion of the first UI, and the first plurality of UI elements and the post content are provided for presentation in a second portion of the first UI.

14. The system of claim 13 , wherein the first portion and the second portion of the first UI are to be presented to the user in parallel or consecutively.

15. The system of claim 10 , wherein at least one of the first application or the second application is an application associated with a social networking platform of a plurality of social networking platforms.

16. The system of claim 15 , wherein the second application is configured to interface with applications associated with the plurality of social networking platforms to allow a user to switch between the second application and any of the applications associated with the plurality of social networking platforms via a single operation.

17. A non-transitory computer readable medium having instructions stored thereon that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform operations for a first application associated with a first media sharing platform to incorporate context of a post from a second application associated with a second media sharing platform into a first user interface (UI) of the first application associated with the first media sharing platform, the operations comprising:

receiving, by the first application and based on a post from a second UI of the second application, a user request pertaining to a media content item referenced in the post in the second UI of the second application, the second UI of the second application identifying the media content item and comprising post content associated with the media content item and a first plurality of UI elements, wherein the first plurality of UI elements comprises at least one control and a content sharing button allowing a user to share the media content item on a plurality of applications associated with a plurality of media sharing platforms comprising the first media sharing platform, and wherein each of the plurality of media sharing platforms and the second media sharing platform are separate platforms;
