Method and apparatus for receiving system information
A method for a system information (SI) request procedure performed by a user equipment (UE) is provided. The method includes: receiving a system information block type 1 (SIB 1 ) from a cell; transmitting, to the cell, a first message including a common control channel (CCCH) service data unit (SDU) that includes a radio resource control (RRC) SI request message; receiving, from the cell, a medium access control (MAC) control element (CE) including a UE contention resolution identity; and indicating, by a MAC entity of the UE, reception of an acknowledgment for the RRC SI request message to an RRC entity of the UE after determining that the UE contention resolution identity matches multiple consecutive bits, starting from the most significant bit (MSB), of the CCCH SDU. The SIB 1 does not include information related to a Random Access (RA) resource specific to SI requested by the RRC SI request message.
1. A method for a system information (SI) request procedure performed by a user equipment (UE), the method comprising:
receiving a system information block type 1 (SIB 1 ) from a cell;
transmitting, to the cell, a first message including a common control channel (CCCH) service data unit (SDU), the CCCH SDU including a radio resource control (RRC) SI request message, wherein the CCCH SDU comprises a plurality of bits that starts from the most significant bit (MSB);
receiving, from the cell, a medium access control (MAC) control element (CE) including a UE contention resolution identity; and
indicating, by a MAC entity of the UE, reception of an acknowledgment for the RRC SI request message to an RRC entity of the UE after determining that a first value of the UE contention resolution identity matches a second value determined by two or more consecutive bits, starting with the MSB, in the plurality of bits of the CCCH SDU,
wherein the SIB 1 does not include information related to a Random Access (RA) resource specific to SI requested by the RRC SI request message.
2. The method of claim 1 , wherein:
the SIB 1 includes a first list,
a number of entries in the first list ranges from one to a number of public land mobile networks (PLMNs) operating the cell, and
each entry in the first list includes:
an indicator corresponding to a PLMN operating the cell; and
access control information of the PLMN operating the cell.
3. The method of claim 2 , wherein:
the SIB 1 further includes a second list,
a number of entries in the second list ranges from one to the number of PLMNs operating the cell, and
each entry in the second list includes:
a PLMN identity;
a cell identity; and
a tracking area code.
4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the SIB 1 includes scheduling information indicating whether an SI message is broadcast, and the scheduling information further indicates public land mobile network (PLMN) information corresponding to the SI message.
5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the RRC SI request message is received by the MAC entity of the UE via a CCCH, which is configured with a transparent mode radio link control (RLC) entity.
6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising starting a timer after receiving the MAC CE,
wherein the RRC SI request message includes information related to the timer.
7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the MAC CE further includes at least one of the following:
a broadcast delay time;
a broadcast monitoring duration;
an uplink (UL) grant; or
a downlink (DL) grant.
8. A user equipment (UE) for performing a method for a system information (SI) request procedure, comprising:
one or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing one or more computer-executable instructions; and
at least one processor coupled to the one or more non-transitory computer-readable media, and configured to execute the one or more computer-executable instructions to cause the UE to:
receive a system information block type 1 (SIB 1 ) from a cell;
transmit, to the cell, a first message including a common control channel (CCCH) service data unit (SDU), the CCCH SDU including a radio resource control (RRC) SI request message, wherein the CCCH SDU comprises a plurality of bits that starts from the most significant bit (MSB);
receive, from the cell, a medium access control (MAC) control element (CE) including a UE contention resolution identity; and
indicate, by a MAC entity of the UE, reception of an acknowledgment for the RRC SI request message to an RRC entity of the UE after determining that a first value of the UE contention resolution identity matches a second value determined by two or more consecutive bits, starting with the MSB, in the plurality of bits of the CCCH SDU,
wherein the SIB 1 does not include information related to a Random Access (RA) resource specific to SI requested by the RRC SI request message.
9. The UE of claim 8 , wherein:
the SIB 1 includes a first list,
a number of entries in the first list ranges from one to a number of public land mobile networks (PLMNs) operating the cell, and
each entry in the first list includes:
an indicator corresponding to a PLMN operating the cell; and
access control information of the PLMN operating the cell.
10. The UE of claim 9 , wherein:
the SIB 1 further includes a second list,
a number of entries in the second list ranging ranges from one to the number of PLMNs operating the cell, and
each entry in the second list includes:
a PLMN identity;
a cell identity; and
a tracking area code.
11. The UE of claim 8 , wherein the SIB 1 includes scheduling information indicating whether an SI message is broadcast, and the scheduling information further indicates public land mobile network (PLMN) information corresponding to the SI message.
12. The UE of claim 8 , wherein the RRC SI request message is received by the MAC entity of the UE via a CCCH, which is configured with a transparent mode radio link control (RLC) entity.
13. The UE of claim 8 , the at least one processor is further configured to execute the one or more computer-executable instructions to cause the UE to start a timer after receiving the MAC CE,
wherein the RRC SI request message includes information related to the timer.
14. The UE of claim 8 , wherein the MAC CE further includes at least one of the following:
a broadcast delay time;
a broadcast monitoring duration;
an uplink (UL) grant; or
a downlink (DL) grant.
15. A base station (BS) for providing system information (SI), the BS comprising:
one or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing one or more computer-executable instructions; and
at least one processor coupled to the one or more non-transitory computer-readable media, and configured to execute the one or more computer-executable instructions to cause the BS to:
broadcast a system information block type 1 (SIB 1 ) associated with a cell;
receive, from a user equipment (UE), a first message including a common control channel (CCCH) service data unit (SDU), the CCCH SDU including a radio resource control (RRC) SI request message, wherein the CCCH SDU comprises a plurality of bits that starts from the most significant bit (MSB); and
transmit, to the UE, a medium access control (MAC) control element (CE) including a UE contention resolution identity, wherein a first value of the UE contention resolution identity matches a second value determined by two or more consecutive bits, starting with the MSB, in the plurality of bits of the CCCH SDU, wherein:
the MAC CE enables a MAC entity of the UE to indicate reception of an acknowledgment for the RRC SI request message to an RRC entity of the UE, and
the SIB 1 does not include information related to a Random Access (RA) resource specific to SI requested by the RRC SI request message.
16. The BS of claim 15 , wherein:
the SIB 1 includes a first list,
a number of entries in the first list ranges from one to a number of public land mobile networks (PLMNs) operating the cell, and
each entry in the first list includes:
an indicator corresponding to a PLMN operating the cell; and
access control information of the PLMN operating the cell.
17. The BS of claim 16 , wherein:
the SIB 1 further includes a second list,
a number of entries in the second list ranges from one to the number of PLMNs operating the cell, and
each entry in the second list includes:
a PLMN identity;
a cell identity; and
a tracking area code.
18. The BS of claim 15 , wherein the SIB 1 includes scheduling information indicating whether an SI message is broadcast, and the scheduling information further indicates public land mobile network (PLMN) information corresponding to the SI message.
19. The BS of claim 15 , wherein:
the MAC CE further enables the UE to start a timer after receiving the MAC CE; and
the RRC SI request message includes information related to the timer.
20. The BS of claim 15 , wherein the MAC CE further includes at least one of:
a broadcast delay time;
a broadcast monitoring duration;
an uplink (UL) grant; or
a downlink (DL) grant.
