Adjustable firearm accessory
A firearm accessory mounted to a firearm accessory rail and allowing adjustment of the accessory relative to the firearm accessory rail includes an indexing member having a tab structured to engage with one of the series of slots of the firearm accessory rail, and having two or more indexing slots, the two or more indexing slots spaced apart from one another at a distance less than the regular pitch interval of the accessory rail, and a single clamp having a crossmember structured to engage with one of the two or more indexing slots, the single clamp structured to simultaneously secure the accessory and the indexing member to the firearm accessory rail in a single clamping action.
1 . A firearm accessory structured to be mounted to a firearm accessory rail having a series of slots spaced apart at regular pitch intervals and structured to allow adjustment of the accessory relative to the firearm accessory rail, the firearm accessory comprising:
an indexed adjustment plate having a tab structured to engage with one of the series of slots of the firearm accessory rail, and having two or more indexing detents, the two or more indexing detents having a curved shape and being spaced apart from one another at a distance less than the regular pitch interval of the slots of the accessory rail; and
a clamp structured to engage with one of the two or more indexing detents, the clamp structured to simultaneously secure the accessory and the indexed adjustment plate to the firearm accessory rail in a single clamping action.
2 . The firearm accessory according to claim 1 , in which the clamp further includes a keeper integrated into an accessory body.
3 . The firearm accessory according to claim 2 , in which the clamp includes a second keeper attached to the accessory body by a crossmember of the clamp.
4 . The firearm accessory according to claim 1 , in which the indexed adjustment plate includes a top and further includes a slot between the top of and the tab of the indexing member.
5 . A firearm accessory structured to be mounted to a firearm accessory rail having a series of slots spaced apart at regular pitch intervals and structured to allow adjustment of the accessory relative to the firearm accessory rail, the firearm accessory comprising:
an indexed adjustment plate having a tab structured to engage with one of the series of slots of the firearm accessory rail, and having two or more indexing positions having a curved shape and being spaced apart at a distance that is less than the regular pitch interval of the accessory rail; and
a clamp having a cross-slot bolt with a round cross-section structured to engage with one of the two or more indexing positions, the clamp structured to simultaneously secure the firearm accessory to the indexed adjustment plate and the indexed adjustment plate to the firearm accessory rail in a single clamping action.
6 . The firearm accessory according to claim 5 , in which the curved shape of each of the positions of the indexed adjustment plate is a semicircular shape.
7 . The firearm accessory according to claim 5 , in which the clamp further includes an angled keeper integrated into an accessory body structured to contact a bevel of the firearm accessory rail.
8 . The firearm accessory according to claim 7 , in which the clamp includes a second angled keeper attached to the accessory body by the cross-slot bolt of the clamp.
9 . A firearm accessory structured to be mounted to a firearm accessory rail having a series of slots spaced apart at regular pitch intervals and structured to allow adjustment of the accessory relative to the firearm accessory rail, the firearm accessory comprising:
an adjustment plate including a tab structured to engage with one of the series of slots of the firearm accessory rail, the adjustment plate further structured to allow the firearm accessory to be securely positioned along an axis of the firearm accessory rail at indexed distances less than the regular pitch intervals of the slots of the firearm accessory rail; and
a clamp structured to simultaneously secure the firearm accessory to the adjustment plate and the adjustment plate to the firearm accessory rail in a single clamping action,
wherein the adjustment plate further includes a cross-slot bolt and a series of detents structured to engage with the cross-slot bolt when the clamp secures the firearm accessory to the adjustment plate and the adjustment plate to the firearm accessory rail.
10 . The firearm accessory according to claim 9 , in which the adjustment plate includes a cantilevered top structured to allow each detent in the series of detents to snap over the cross-slot bolt.
11 . The firearm accessory according to claim 9 , in which each of the series of detents has a semicircular shape and the cross-slot bolt has a round cross section.
12 . The firearm accessory according to claim 9 , in which the adjustment plate includes a slot between a top of the adjustment plate and the tab of the adjustment plate.
13 . The firearm accessory according to claim 9 , in which the clamp further includes a first keeper integrated into an accessory body.
14 . The firearm accessory according to claim 13 , in which the clamp includes a second keeper attached to the accessory body by the cross-slot bolt.
