Abstract

A display device is disclosed. The display device includes a first substrate, a frame positioned in the rear of the first substrate, a second substrate opposite the first substrate and positioned between the first substrate and the frame, the second substrate having an area less than an area of the first substrate, and a member layer electrically connected to the first substrate and extended toward the frame.

Claims (53)

1. A display device comprising:

a display panel;

a main frame at a rear of the display panel;

a side frame extending along sides of the display panel and comprising:

a flat portion facing a rear surface of the display panel and coupled to the rear surface of the display panel;

an exterior portion extending beyond a corresponding side of the display panel and covering an edge part of the main frame such that the exterior portion of the side frame forms an exterior surface of the display device,

wherein an adhesive layer is attached on a front surface of the flat portion of the side frame and the rear surface of the display panel is attached on the adhesive layer, and

wherein an adhesive member is attached on a rear surface of the flat portion of the side frame and the adhesive member is attached to the main frame adjacent to the edge part of the main frame.

2. The display device of claim 1 , wherein the adhesive layer overlaps with the adhesive member in a direction of the thickness of the display panel.

3. The display device of claim 1 , wherein a front part of the edge part of the main frame supports the rear surface of the flat portion of the side frame and a side part of the edge part of the main frame supports an inner surface of the exterior portion of the side frame.

4. The display device of claim 1 , wherein a corner between the rear surface of the flat portion and an inner surface of the exterior portion is aligned with the edge part of the main frame.

5. The display device of claim 4 , wherein the corner of flat portion and the exterior portion of the side frame covers the edge part of the main frame.

6. The display device of claim 1 , wherein the exterior portion of the side frame further includes an inclined portion inclined with respect to the flat portion of the side frame.

7. The display device of claim 6 , wherein the inclined portion of the side frame is apart from the corresponding side of the display panel.

8. The display device of claim 1 , further comprising:

a light source on a substrate between the main frame and the display panel, the light source providing light for the display panel;

a reflective sheet between the substrate and the display panel, the reflective sheet including a hole into which the light source is disposed and reflecting light from the light source toward the display panel; and

an optical layer between the reflective sheet and the display panel,

wherein the side frame covers at least one edge of the reflective sheet or the optical layer.

9. The display device of claim 8 , wherein the light source provides white light for the display panel.

The display device of claim 1 , wherein the display panel includes a first long edge, a second long edge facing the first long edge, a first short edge connecting the first long edge with the second long edge, and a second short edge facing the first short edge and connecting the first long edge and the second long edge, and

wherein a first flat portion of the side frame supports a rear surface at the first short edge of the display panel, a second flat portion of the side frame supports a rear surface at the first long edge of the display panel, and a third flat portion of the side frame supports a rear surface at the second short edge of the display panel.

11. The display device of claim 10 , further comprising a bottom frame extended along the second long edge of the display and coupled with an end of the first flat portion of the side frame and an end of the third flat portion of the side frame.

12. The display device of claim 1 , wherein the display panel comprises at least one substrate and a first layer coupled to a front of the at least one substrate and a second layer coupled to a rear of the at least one substrate,

wherein a size of the at least one substrate is larger than a size of the second layer such that an extending portion of a rear of the at least one substrate extends beyond an edge of the second layer, and

wherein the extending portion of the rear of the at least one substrate is coupled to the adhesive layer.

13. The display device of claim 12 , wherein the display panel further comprises a sealing member configured to cover a lateral edge of the at least one substrate.

14. A display device comprising:

a display panel;

a main frame at a rear of the display panel;

a side frame extending along sides of the display panel and including:

a first part extending along a first short side of the display panel;

a second part adjacent to the first part and extending along a first long side of the display panel; and

a third part adjacent to the second part and extending along a second short side of the display panel facing the first short side;

wherein each of the first part, the second part, and the third part of the side frame comprises:

a flat portion facing a rear surface of the display panel and coupled to the rear surface of the display panel;

an exterior portion extending beyond a corresponding side of the display panel and covering an edge part of the main frame such that the exterior portion of the side frame forms an exterior surface of the display device,

wherein an adhesive layer is attached on a front surface of the flat portion of the side frame and the rear surface of the display panel is attached on the adhesive layer,

wherein an adhesive member is attached on a rear surface of the flat portion of the side frame and the adhesive member is attached to the main frame adjacent to the edge part of the main frame, and

wherein the adhesive layer overlaps with the adhesive member in a direction of the thickness of the display panel.

15. The display device of claim 14 , wherein a front part of the edge part of the main frame supports the rear surface of the flat portion of the side frame and a side part of the edge part of the main frame supports an inner surface of the exterior portion of the side frame.

The display device of claim 14 , wherein a corner between the rear surface of the flat portion and an inner surface of the exterior portion is aligned with the edge part of the main frame such that the corner of flat portion and the exterior portion of the side frame covers the edge part of the main frame.

17. The display device of claim 14 , wherein the exterior portion of the side frame further includes an inclined portion inclined with respect to the flat portion of the side frame, and

wherein the inclined portion of the side frame is apart from the corresponding side of the display panel.

18. The display device of claim 14 , further comprising:

a light source on a substrate between the main frame and the display panel, the light source providing light for the display panel;

a reflective sheet between the substrate and the display panel, the reflective sheet including a hole into which the light source is disposed and reflecting light from the light source toward the display panel; and

an optical layer between the reflective sheet and the display panel,

wherein the side frame covers at least one edge of the reflective sheet or the optical layer.

19. The display device of claim 14 , further comprising a bottom frame extended along a second long side of the display panel facing the first long side of the display panel and coupled with both ends of the flat portions of the first part and the third part of the side frame.

20. The display device of claim 14 , wherein the display panel comprises at least one substrate and a first layer coupled to a front of the at least one substrate and a second layer coupled to a rear of the at least one substrate,

wherein a size of the at least one substrate is larger than a size of the second layer such that an extending portion of a rear of the at least one substrate extends beyond an edge of the second layer, and

wherein the extending portion of the rear of the at least one substrate is coupled to the adhesive layer.
