Abstract

A cushioning element includes a fabric, a first cushioning element on a first side of the fabric, and a second cushioning element on a second side of the fabric. The first cushioning element and second cushioning element may be superimposed. The fabric may include a first layer and a second layer that are superimposed, with the first cushioning element secured to and protruding from the first layer and the second cushioning element secured to and protruding from the second layer. Each of the first cushioning element and second cushioning element may include a plurality of interconnected walls formed from an elastomeric gel material. The walls of the first cushioning element and second cushioning element may be aligned or offset.

Claims (35)

1 . A cushioning element, comprising:

fabric;

a first cushion defined from a compressible, resilient elastomeric material protruding from and secured to a first side of the fabric; and

a second cushion defined from the compressible, resilient elastomeric material protruding from and secured to a second side of the fabric.

2 . The cushioning element of claim 1 , wherein the first cushion comprises a first plurality of interconnected walls defined from the compressible, resilient elastomeric material and defining a first array of voids.

3 . The cushioning element of claim 2 , wherein the second cushion comprises a second plurality of interconnected walls defined from the compressible, resilient elastomeric material and defining a second array of voids.

4 . The cushioning element of claim 3 , wherein the first plurality of interconnected walls and the second plurality of interconnected walls are aligned.

5 . The cushioning element of claim 3 , wherein the first plurality of interconnected walls and the second plurality of interconnected walls are offset.

6 . The cushioning element of claim 1 , wherein the fabric comprises superimposed layers of fabric.

7 . The cushioning element of claim 6 , wherein:

the first cushion protrudes from and is secured to a first layer of the superimposed layers of fabric; and

the second cushion protrudes from and is secured to a second layer of the superimposed layers of fabric.

8 . The cushioning element of claim 1 , wherein the fabric comprises cotton.

9 . A cushioning element, comprising:

superimposed layers of fabric in contact with each other;

a first cushion defined from a compressible, resilient elastomeric material protruding from and secured to a first layer of the superimposed layers of fabric; and

a second cushion defined from the compressible, resilient elastomeric material protruding from and secured to a second layer of the superimposed layers of fabric.

10 . The cushioning element of claim 9 , wherein the first cushion comprises a first plurality of interconnected walls defined from the compressible, resilient elastomeric material and defining a first array of voids.

11 . The cushioning element of claim 10 , wherein the second cushion comprises a second plurality of interconnected walls defined from the compressible, resilient elastomeric material and defining a second array of voids.

12 . The cushioning element of claim 11 , wherein the first plurality of interconnected walls and the second plurality of interconnected walls are aligned.

13 . The cushioning element of claim 11 , wherein the first plurality of interconnected walls and the second plurality of interconnected walls are offset.

14 . The cushioning element of claim 1 , wherein the fabric comprises cotton.

15 . A cushioning element, comprising:

superimposed layers of fabric;

a first cushion comprising a first plurality of interconnected walls defined from a compressible, resilient elastomeric material, the first plurality of interconnected walls secured to a first layer of the superimposed layers of fabric, protruding from the first layer, and defining a first array of voids; and

a second cushion comprising a second plurality of interconnected walls defined from the compressible, resilient elastomeric material, the second plurality of interconnected walls secured to a second layer of the superimposed layers of fabric, protruding from the second layer, and defining a second array of voids.

16 . The cushioning element of claim 15 , wherein the first layer and the second layer contact each other.

17 . The cushioning element of claim 15 , wherein the first plurality of interconnected walls of the first cushion and the second plurality of interconnected walls of the second cushion are aligned.

18 . The cushioning element of claim 15 , wherein the first plurality of interconnected walls of the first cushion and the second plurality of interconnected walls of the second cushion are offset.

19 . The cushioning element of claim 15 , wherein a periphery of the first plurality of interconnected walls has a height of about one-eighth inch.

20 . The cushioning element of claim 19 , wherein a periphery of the second plurality of interconnected walls has a height of about one-eighth inch.

21 . The cushioning element of claim 15 , wherein a periphery of the first plurality of interconnected walls has a height of about one-sixteenth inch.

22 . The cushioning element of claim 21 , wherein a periphery of the second plurality of interconnected walls has a height of about one-sixteenth inch.

23 . The cushioning element of claim 15 , wherein a periphery of the first plurality of interconnected walls is shorter than a center of the first plurality of interconnected walls.

24 . The cushioning element of claim 23 , wherein a periphery of the second plurality of interconnected walls is shorter than a center of the second plurality of interconnected walls.
