wherein the keyed slot comprises a reversibly deformable material, and wherein engaging the engagement unit of the surgical instrument unit with the bayonet holder comprises:

flexing the keyed slot to deform the longitudinal plane of the top surface and bottom surface of the keyed slot;

thereafter placing an end of the elevated boss distal from the handle in the interior cavity of the keyed slot;

thereafter engaging the keyed slot in the groove of the elevated boss by way of snap fit;

thereafter sliding the handle and bayonet holder in a direction toward and end of the keyed slot distal from the handle until the elevated boss is fully inserted within the keyed slot.

9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the engagement unit of the surgical instrument unit comprises a socket and plug attachment, wherein an end of the surgical instrument unit comprises either a socket or a plug configured to fit inside the socket, wherein the bayonet holder comprises either a socket or a plug configured to fit into the socket, wherein engaging the engagement unit of the surgical instrument unit with the bayonet holder comprises:

wherein, if the end of the surgical instrument unit comprises a socket, mating the socket with the plug of the bayonet holder,

wherein, if the end of the surgical instrument unit comprises a plug, mating the plug with the socket of the bayonet holder, and

thereafter placing the plug into the socket.

10 . A multi-function surgical instrument comprising:

a handle, wherein the handle comprises a proximal end and a distal end;

a bayonet holder; and

a surgical instrument unit, wherein the surgical instrument unit comprises an engagement unit configured to mate with the bayonet holder,
