Abstract

The disclosed enhanced document creation and parsing systems deal with enhanced documents that allow for the presentation of document content in a preferred visual manner, while ensuring that the document content can be captured accurately by an automated parser with nothing being discarded or misrepresented. The enhanced document creation system may create an enhanced document by encoding document content in accordance with a defined schema, optionally encrypting the resulting structured data into an encrypted byte string, and embedding the encrypted byte string as non-visible metadata in a rendered document. The resulting enhanced document can be completely and accurately parsed by an enhanced document parsing system that is capable of extracting, decrypting and decoding the embedded document metadata.

Claims (55)

1 . A method of creating an enhanced document, comprising:

receiving content associated with creating an initial document with a document creation platform, wherein the content is unstructured;

identifying a subset of the content designated as non-visible content; and

generating an enhanced document from the content of the initial document that encodes the content in a structured form according to a defined schema, based on semantic meaning of elements of the content, and embeds the subset of content in non-visible metadata in the enhanced document.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein identifying the subset of content comprises:

determining one or more attributes associated with a context;

analyzing the content associated with the initial document given the one or more attributes to determine a first set of content associated with the one or more attributes;

removing the first set of content from the content; and

designating remaining content as the non-visible content.

3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein determining the one or more attributes in a job search context, comprises analyzing a job description to determine one or more qualifications associated with a job.

4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

determining applicability of the non-visible content to a task;

requesting permission to utilize the non-visible content to complete the task;

receiving permission to utilize the non-visible content; and

completing the task with the non-visible content.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein receiving the content associated with the initial document comprises receiving a resume content of an individual.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the non-visible content includes bibliographic information regarding an individual.

7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

embedding a unique document identifier in the enhanced document; and

saving the subset of content to a database at a location indexed by the unique document identifier.

8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising encrypting the non-visible metadata prior to embedding the non-visible metadata in the enhanced document.

9 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising generating the enhanced document in a file format requested.

10 . An enhanced document creation system, comprising:

at least one processor coupled to at least one memory that includes instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the system to:

receive content associated with creating an initial document with a document creation platform, wherein the content is unstructured;

identify a subset of the content designated as non-visible content; and

generate an enhanced document from the content that encodes the content in a structured form according to a defined schema, based on semantic meaning of elements of the content, and embeds the subset of content as non-visible metadata in the enhanced document.

11 . The system of claim 10 , wherein identify the subset of the content designated as non-visible comprises instructions that cause the system to:

determine one or more attributes associated with a context;

analyze the content associated with the initial document given the one or more attributes to determine a first set of content associated with the one or more attributes;

remove the first set of content from the content; and

designate remaining content as the subset of content as non-visible.

12 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the instructions cause the system to analyze a job description to determine one or more qualifications associated with applying for a job to determine the one or more attributes in a job search context.

13 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the instructions further cause the system to:

determine applicability of the non-visible content to a task;

request permission to utilize the non-visible content to complete the task;

receive permission to utilize the non-visible content; and

complete the task with the non-visible content.

14 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the content associated with the initial document comprises a resume content of an individual.

15 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the non-visible content includes bibliographic information regarding an individual.

16 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the instructions further cause the system to:

embed a unique document identifier in the enhanced document; and

save the subset of content to a database to a location indexed by the unique document identifier.

17 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the instructions further cause the system to encrypt the non-visible metadata before embedding the non-visible metadata in the enhanced document.

18 . A method of creating an enhanced document, comprising:

receiving content of an initial document generated with a document creation platform, wherein the content is unstructured;

determining a first set of the content associated with the one or more attributes and a second set of the content excluded from the first set;

designating the second set of content as non-visible content;

generating an enhanced document from the content of the initial document that encodes the content in a structured form according to a defined schema, based on semantic meaning of elements of the content, and embeds the non-visible content in metadata in the enhanced document.

19 . The method of claim 18 , further comprising:

determining applicability of the non-visible content to a task;

requesting permission to utilize the non-visible content to complete the task;

receiving permission to utilize the non-visible content; and

completing the task with the non-visible content.

20 . The method of claim 18 , further comprising determining the one or more attributes based on a job description and qualifications associated with the job.
