Abstract

Implementations are directed to using an assistant to initiate automated telephone calls with entities. Some implementations identify an item of interest, identify a group of entities associated with the item, and initiate the calls with the entities. During a given call with a given entity, the assistant can request a status update regarding the item, and determine a temporal delay before initiating another call with the given entity to request a further status update regarding the item based on information received responsive to the request. Other implementations receive a request to perform an action on behalf of a user, identify a group of entities that can perform the action, and initiate a given call with a given entity. During the given call, the assistant can initiate an additional call with an additional entity, and generate notification(s), for the user, based on result(s) of the given call and/or the additional call.

Claims (43)

1. A computer-implemented method implemented by one or more processors, the computer-implemented method comprising:

determining a request based on a received user input at a client device, the client device associated with user data;

determining an item of interest based on the request;

determining at least one entity that is associated with the item of interest, wherein:

the at least one entity is selected based on the user data, and

the at least one entity submitted an indication of items that are associated with the at least one entity, the items including the item of interest;

communicating with a representative of the at least one entity to determine an availability of the item of interest at the at least one entity; and

returning a search result data describing the item of interest and the availability of the item of interest at the at least one entity.

2. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one entity is selected based on the user data by selecting the at least one entity within a geographic area associated with the user data.

3. The computer-implemented method of claim 2 , wherein the geographic area is defined based on a radius from the client device.

4. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one entity is selected based on the user data by selecting the at least one entity based on a user preferences criteria.

5. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the communicating is performed using an internet-based communication protocol.

6. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the communicating is performed using a voice-based communication protocol.

7. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the communicating is performed using an automated assistant.

8. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the representative is an automated assistant associated with the at least one entity.

9. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the availability corresponds to an inventory amount.

10. A computing system, comprising:

at least one hardware processor; and

memory storing instructions that, when executed, cause the at least one hardware processor to:

determine a request based on a received user input at a client device, the client device associated with user data;

determine an item of interest based on the request;

determine at least one entity that is associated with the item of interest, wherein:

the at least one entity is selected based on the user data, and

the at least one entity submitted an indication of items that are associated with the at least one entity, the items including the item of interest;

communicate with a representative of the at least one entity to determine an availability of the item of interest at the at least one entity; and

return a search result data describing the item of interest and the availability of the item of interest at the at least one entity.

11. The computing system of claim 10 , wherein the at least one entity is selected based on the user data by selecting the at least one entity within a geographic area associated with the user data.

12. The computing system of claim 11 , wherein the geographic area is defined based on a radius from the client device.

13. The computing system of claim 10 , wherein the at least one entity is selected based on the user data by selecting the at least one entity based on a user preferences criteria.

14. The computing system of claim 10 , wherein the communicating is performed using an internet-based communication protocol.

15. The computing system of claim 10 , wherein the communicating is performed using a voice-based communication protocol.

16. The computing system of claim 10 , wherein the communicating is performed using an automated assistant.

17. The computing system of claim 10 , wherein the representative is an automated assistant associated with the at least one entity.

18. The computing system of claim 10 , wherein the availability corresponds to an inventory amount.

19. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing instructions that, when executed by at least one hardware processor, cause the at least one hardware processor to perform operations, the operations comprising:

determining a request based on a received user input at a client device, the client device associated with user data;

determining an item of interest based on the request;

determining at least one entity that is associated with the item of interest, wherein:

the at least one entity is selected based on the user data, and

the at least one entity submitted an indication of items that are associated with the at least one entity, the items including the item of interest;

communicating with a representative of the at least one entity to determine an availability of the item of interest at the at least one entity; and

returning a search result data describing the item of interest and the availability of the item of interest at the at least one entity.

20. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 19 , wherein the at least one entity is selected based on the user data by selecting the at least one entity based on a user preferences criteria.
