Abstract

An object of the present invention is to provide a monolith columnar body capable of satisfying both adsorption performance and durability, a monolith adsorbent using the monolith columnar body, and a method of removing a metal and/or a metal ion from a liquid to be treated, with the monolith adsorbent, and, in order to achieve the object, the present invention provides a columnar body ( 1 ) having a co-continuous structure formed by: a ceramic skeleton ( 2 ) including mesopores ( 4 ); and macropores ( 3 ), wherein an average diameter of the columnar body ( 1 ) is 1.5 mm or more and 20 mm or less, wherein a most frequent pore diameter of the macropores ( 3 ) is 0.20 μm or more and 4.0 μm or less, and wherein a most frequent pore diameter of the mesopores ( 4 ) is 2.0 nm or more and 50 nm or less.

Claims (14)

1 . A columnar body having a co-continuous structure formed by: a ceramic skeleton comprising mesopores; and macropores,

wherein an average diameter of the columnar body is 1.5 mm or more and 20 mm or less,

wherein a most frequent pore diameter of the macropores is 0.20 μm or more and 4.0 μm or less, and

wherein a most frequent pore diameter of the mesopores is 2.0 nm or more and 50 nm or less.

2 . The columnar body according to claim 1 , wherein an aspect ratio is 0.70 or more.

3 . The columnar body according to claim 1 , wherein a ratio of the most frequent pore diameter of the macropores to the most frequent pore diameter of the mesopores is 15 or more and 200 or less.

4 . The columnar body according to claim 1 , wherein the ceramic skeleton comprises an element selected from silicon, aluminum, tin, cerium, titanium and zirconium.

5 . The columnar body according to claim 1 , wherein a surface of the ceramic skeleton is modified by a metal- and/or metal ion-adsorbable functional group.

6 . The columnar body according to claim 5 , wherein the functional group is selected from a primary amino group, a secondary amino group, a tertiary amino group, a quaternary ammonium group, an imino group, a nitrilo group, a nitrogen atom-containing heterocyclic group, a thiol group and a carboxyl group.

7 . The columnar body according to claim 5 , wherein an amount of the functional group contained in the columnar body is 0.10 mmol/g or more and 6.0 mmol/g or less based on a mass of the columnar body.

8 . The columnar body according to claim 5 , wherein the metal is a transition metal, and the metal ion is a transition metal ion.

9 . The columnar body according to claim 8 , wherein the transition metal is a noble metal, and the transition metal ion is a noble metal ion.

10 . An adsorbent comprising the columnar body according to claim 5 .

11 . A method of removing a metal and/or a metal ion from a solution containing the metal and/or the metal ion, the method comprising a step of contacting the solution and the adsorbent according to claim 10 .
