Abstract

Disclosed herein are systems and methods related to wireless communication mesh network design, installation, and deployment. In one aspect, a wireless communication node may be located at a building to include one or more antenna mounts, one or more wireless communication radios mounted on the one or more antenna mounts, and a portable power supply coupled to each of the one or more wireless communication radios via a respective cable, where the portable power supply is configured to provide power to each of the one or more wireless communication radios. In another aspect, a wireless communication node located at a building may include a coaxial interface coupled to a power supply installed at the building via a pre-existing cable for a satellite dish, where the coaxial interface may receive power from the power supply via the pre-existing cable and supply the received power to one or more wireless communication radios.

Claims (26)

1 . A wireless communication mesh network node of a wireless communication mesh network, wherein the wireless communication mesh network node is located at a building, the wireless communication mesh network node comprising:

one or more antenna mounts;

one or more wireless communication mesh network radios mounted on the one or more antenna mounts;

a portable power supply coupled to each of the one or more wireless communication mesh network radios via a respective cable, wherein the portable power supply is configured to provide power to each of the one or more wireless communication mesh network radios; and

a portable modular unit that includes the one or more antenna mounts, the one or more wireless communication mesh network radios, and the portable power supply, wherein the portable modular unit is configured such that a portion of the portable modular unit including the one or more antenna mounts and the portable power supply is configured to be removed from the wireless communication mesh network node located at the building and installed at a second wireless communication mesh network node that is to be located at a second building.

2 . The wireless communication mesh network node of claim 1 , wherein the portable power supply comprises a solar panel that is configured to provide power to each of the one or more wireless communication mesh network radios.

3 . The wireless communication mesh network node of claim 1 , wherein the portable power supply comprises a battery that is configured to provide power to each of the one or more wireless communication mesh network radios.

4 . The wireless communication mesh network node of claim 1 , wherein the portable power supply is replaceable with a power supply box that is configured to provide power to each of the one or more wireless communication mesh network radios.

5 . The wireless communication mesh network node of claim 1 , wherein the wireless communication mesh network node is coupled to at least one other wireless communication mesh network node in a set of wireless communication mesh network nodes via a respective wireless communication link, and wherein the least one other wireless communication mesh network node in the set of wireless communication mesh network nodes is configured to operate as part of the wireless communication mesh network.

6 . The wireless communication mesh network node of claim 5 , wherein the respective wireless communication link comprises a point-to-point communication link or a point-to-multipoint communication link.

7 . The wireless communication mesh network node of claim 1 , wherein each of the one or more wireless communication mesh network radios is configured establish a line-of-sight communication link with another wireless communication mesh network radio installed at second respective third wireless communication mesh network node, wherein the respective third wireless communication mesh network node is configured to operate as part of the wireless communication mesh network.

8 . The wireless communication mesh network node of claim 1 , wherein the wireless communication mesh network node of the wireless communication mesh network operates in a millimeter wave spectrum.

9 . The wireless communication mesh network node of claim 1 , wherein the portion of the portable modular unit includes the one or more antenna mounts and the portable power supply but not the one or more wireless communication mesh network radios.

12 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the installation of the wireless communication mesh network nodes in the second cluster is dependent upon the installation of the wireless communication mesh network nodes in the first cluster given that the installation of the wireless communication mesh network nodes in the second cluster is impacted by a delay of electrical work for one or more of the wireless communication mesh network nodes in the first cluster.

13 . The system of claim 11 , wherein:

the installation of the wireless communication mesh network nodes in the first cluster comprises, for each respective wireless communication mesh network node in the first cluster, configuration of the respective wireless communication mesh network node in the first cluster and access to a core network of the wireless communication mesh network; and

the installation of the wireless communication mesh network nodes in the second cluster comprises, for each respective wireless communication mesh network node in the second cluster, configuration of the respective wireless communication mesh network node in the second cluster and access to the core network of the wireless communication mesh network.

14 . The system of claim 10 , wherein, for each respective wireless communication mesh network node of the plurality of wireless communication mesh network nodes, the portable power supply comprises a solar panel that is configured to provide power to each of the one or more wireless communication mesh network radios of the respective wireless communication mesh network node.

15 . The system of claim 10 , wherein, for each respective wireless communication mesh network node of the plurality of wireless communication mesh network nodes, the portable power supply comprises a battery that is configured to provide power to each of the one or more wireless communication mesh network radios of the respective wireless communication mesh network node.

16 . The system of claim 10 , wherein, for each respective wireless communication mesh network node of the plurality of wireless communication mesh network nodes, the portable power supply is replaceable with a power supply box that is configured to provide power to each of the one or more wireless communication mesh network radios of the respective wireless communication mesh network node.

17 . The system of claim 10 , wherein, for each respective wireless communication mesh network node of the plurality of wireless communication mesh network nodes, the portion of the portable modular unit includes the one or more antenna mounts and the portable power supply but not the one or more wireless communication mesh network radios of the respective wireless communication mesh network node.
