Abstract

The present invention relates to an image encoding/decoding method. The image decoding method includes splitting a coding tree unit (CTU) into at least one coding unit (CU) according to a block splitting structure and performing CU-based decoding, in which the block partition structure is configured such that at least one of binary tree splitting and ternary tree splitting is performed after quadtree splitting is performed.

Claims (28)

1 . A method of decoding a video, the method comprising:

decoding residual coefficients of a current block;

performing an inverse-quantization for the residual coefficients of the current block; and

performing an inverse-transform for inverse-quantized residual coefficients, resulting from the inverse-quantization, of the current block,

wherein residual coefficients included in a remaining region excluding a top-left region of the current block have a value of 0.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein a size of the top-left region is adaptively determined based on a size of the current block.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the inverse-quantization is performed by multiplying a scaling factor to a residual coefficient, and

wherein the scaling factor is determined differently in units of a region of a predetermined size.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the inverse-transform comprises an inverse-secondary transform and an inverse-primary transform.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the current block is one of a plurality of blocks generated by splitting a parent node coding block, and

wherein when the parent node coding block crosses both a lower boundary and a right boundary of a picture, the parent node coding block is implicitly split by quad-tree partitioning.

6 . A method of encoding a video, the method comprising:

obtaining residual samples of a current block;

performing a transform for the residual samples of the current block;

performing a quantization for transformed coefficients, resulting from the transform, of the current block; and

encoding residual coefficients, resulting from the quantization, into a bitstream,

wherein residual coefficients included in a remaining region excluding a top-left region of the current block are set to 0.

7 . A method of encoding a video, the method comprising:

obtaining residual samples of a current block;

performing a transform for the residual samples of the current block;

performing a quantization for transformed coefficients, resulting from the transform, of the current block; and

encoding residual coefficients, resulting from the quantization, into a bitstream,

wherein residual coefficients included in a remaining region excluding a top-left region of the current block are set to 0.

8 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing compressed video data generated by an encoding method, wherein the encoding method comprises:

obtaining residual samples of a current block;

performing a transform for the residual samples of the current block;

performing a quantization for transformed coefficients, resulting from the transform, of the current block; and

encoding residual coefficients, resulting from the quantization, into a bitstream, wherein residual coefficients included in a remaining region excluding a top-left region of the current block are set to 0.
