Autonomous Operation Of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles
A method includes: establishing wireless connection between an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and a user interface; generating, via the user interface, a flight path for the unmanned aerial vehicle; generating, via the user interface, a flight schedule for the unmanned aerial vehicle, the flight schedule being associated with the flight path and include one or more designated times; and initiating, via the user interface, autonomous operation of the unmanned aerial vehicle for the unmanned aerial vehicle to autonomously fly the flight path at the one or more designated times
1 . A method, comprising:
establishing a wireless connection between an unmanned aerial vehicle and a user interface;
generating, via the user interface, a flight path for the unmanned aerial vehicle;
generating, via the user interface, a flight schedule for the unmanned aerial vehicle, the flight schedule being associated with the flight path and including one or more designated times; and
initiating, via the user interface, autonomous operation of the unmanned aerial vehicle for the unmanned aerial vehicle to autonomously fly the flight path at the one or more designated times.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the user interface is a remote electronic device separate from the unmanned aerial vehicle.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the wireless connection is a wireless network connection via a cloud-based system between the unmanned aerial vehicle and the user interface.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein during flight, the unmanned aerial vehicle is configured to scan one or more objects using one or more image sensors of the unmanned aerial vehicle.
5 . The method of claim 4 , further comprising:
responsive to the unmanned aerial vehicle flying the flight path, providing a flight report to a user via the user interface.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein during flight, the unmanned aerial vehicle is configured to scan at least one of an interior or an exterior of a structure.
7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
prior to initiating the autonomous operation of the unmanned aerial vehicle, installing a docking station configured to dock the unmanned aerial vehicle.
8 . The method of claim 7 , further comprising:
responsive to the unmanned aerial vehicle detecting a fault in operation of the unmanned aerial vehicle, providing an error signal to a user via the user interface; and
after detection of the fault, initiating, via the user interface, flight of the unmanned aerial vehicle along a service flight path from the docking station to a position in which the user can physically access the unmanned aerial vehicle.
9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein during flight, the unmanned aerial vehicle is configured to provide a live video feed from one or more image sensors of the unmanned aerial vehicle to a user via the user interface.
10 . A method of security monitoring an area, comprising:
installing a docking station of an unmanned aerial vehicle, the docking station configured to dock the unmanned aerial vehicle;
establishing a wireless connection between a remote electronic device and at least one of the unmanned aerial vehicle or the docking station;
generating a patrol path and a patrol schedule for the unmanned aerial vehicle to fly the patrol path; and
initiating a patrol mode of the unmanned aerial vehicle for the unmanned aerial vehicle to autonomously detect one or more objects.
11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the one or more objects detected are defined by one or more user input parameters received by the remote electronic device.
12 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising:
responsive to detecting the one or more objects, initiating flight of the unmanned aerial vehicle to track the one or more objects detected.
13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the unmanned aerial vehicle is configured to provide a live video feed of the one or more objects detected to a user via the remote electronic device.
14 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the unmanned aerial vehicle is configured to provide a live video feed of the area being monitored when the unmanned aerial vehicle is docked on the docking station.
15 . The method of claim 14 , wherein at least one of the unmanned aerial vehicle or the docking station is controllable using the remote electronic device to move the at least one of the unmanned aerial vehicle or the docking station.
16 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the unmanned aerial vehicle is configured to detect the one or more objects when docked on the docking station and during flight of the patrol path.
17 . The method of claim 10 , wherein flight of the patrol path based on the patrol schedule is autonomously completed by the unmanned aerial vehicle in the patrol mode.
18 . A system for monitoring a designated area, comprising:
an unmanned aerial vehicle;
a docking station of the unmanned aerial vehicle configured to dock the unmanned aerial vehicle, wherein the docking station is configured to articulate when the unmanned aerial vehicle is docked; and
a remote electronic device configured to communicate with and control operation of both the unmanned aerial vehicle and the docking station;
wherein the unmanned aerial vehicle is configured to provide a video stream of an environment to the remote electronic device when the unmanned aerial vehicle is docked; and
wherein the unmanned aerial vehicle is configured to dynamically take flight and autonomously track one or more objects through the environment while continuously providing the video stream to the remote electronic device.
19 . The system of claim 18 , wherein the unmanned aerial vehicle is configured to take flight and autonomously track the one or more objects responsive to one or more of a user input transmitted by the remote electronic device that identifies the one or more objects or autonomously based on detection or movement of the one or more objects.
20 . The system of claim 19 , further comprising:
one or more additional unmanned aerial vehicles; and
a docking station of each of the one or more additional unmanned aerial vehicles configured to dock the one or more additional unmanned aerial vehicles;
wherein the one or more additional unmanned aerial vehicles are configured to communicate with the unmanned aerial vehicle to simultaneously track, sequentially track, or both the one or more objects detected.
