Abstract

Aqueous inkjet ink compositions are provided which comprise water, a co-medium, pigment particles, and resin particles, wherein the resin particles comprise a polymerization product of reactants comprising: one or more types of hydrophobic monomers; and one or more types of anionic monomers comprising one or more types of crosslinkable anionic monomers.

Claims (27)

1 . An aqueous inkjet ink composition comprising water, a co-medium, pigment particles, and resin particles, wherein the resin particles comprise a polymerization product of reactants comprising:

one or more types of hydrophobic monomers; and

one or more types of anionic monomers comprising one or more types of crosslinkable anionic monomers.

2 . The aqueous inkjet ink composition of claim 1 , wherein a total amount of polymerized crosslinkable anionic monomers in the resin particles is at least about 1 weight % and a total amount of polymerized anionic monomers in the resin particles is at least about 15 weight %.

3 . The aqueous inkjet ink composition of claim 1 , wherein a total amount of polymerized crosslinkable anionic monomers in the resin particles is at least about 3 weight % and a total amount of polymerized anionic monomers in the resin particles is at least about 20 weight %.

4 . The aqueous inkjet ink composition of claim 1 , wherein the pigment particles comprise dispersed pigment particles.

5 . The aqueous inkjet ink composition of claim 4 , wherein the dispersed pigment particles comprise polymer dispersed pigment particles.

6 . The aqueous inkjet ink composition of claim 5 , wherein the polymer dispersed pigment particles comprise polymer dispersed magenta pigment particles, polymer dispersed black pigment particles, or both.

7 . The aqueous inkjet ink composition of claim 1 , wherein the one or more types of crosslinkable anionic monomers comprise one or more types of crosslinkable phosphoric acid monomers.

8 . The aqueous inkjet ink composition of claim 7 , wherein the one or more types of crosslinkable phosphoric acid monomers comprise bis[2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl]phosphate.

9 . An aqueous inkjet ink composition comprising water, a co-medium, dispersed pigment particles, and resin particles, wherein the resin particles comprise a polymerization product of reactants comprising:

one or more types of hydrophobic monomers; and

one or more types of anionic monomers comprising one or more types of crosslinkable anionic monomers,

wherein a total amount of polymerized crosslinkable anionic monomers in the resin particles is at least about 1 weight % and a total amount of polymerized anionic monomers in the resin particles is at least about 15 weight %.

10 . The aqueous inkjet ink composition of claim 9 , wherein the total amount of polymerized crosslinkable anionic monomers in the resin particles is at least about 3 weight % and the total amount of polymerized anionic monomers in the resin particles is at least about 20 weight %.

11 . The aqueous inkjet ink composition of claim 10 , wherein the dispersed pigment particles comprise polymer dispersed pigment particles.

12 . The aqueous inkjet ink composition of claim 11 , wherein the dispersed pigment particles comprise polymer dispersed magenta pigment particles, polymer dispersed black pigment particles, or both.

13 . The aqueous inkjet ink composition of claim 12 , wherein the one or more types of crosslinkable anionic monomers comprise one or more types of crosslinkable phosphoric acid monomers.

14 . The aqueous inkjet ink composition of claim 13 , wherein the one or more types of crosslinkable phosphoric acid monomers comprise bis[2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl] phosphate.

15 . The aqueous inkjet ink composition of claim 14 , wherein the one or more types of hydrophobic monomers comprise styrene and the one or more types of anionic monomers further comprise methacrylic acid.

16 . The aqueous inkjet ink composition of claim 15 , wherein the co-medium comprises 1,2-hexanediol.

17 . The aqueous inkjet ink composition of claim 16 , wherein the dispersed pigment particles are present at an amount of from about 4 weight % to about 10 weight %, the resin particles are present at an amount of from about 1 weight % to about 5 weight %, and the amount of 1,2-hexandiol is present at an amount of at least about 2 weight %.

18 . The aqueous inkjet ink composition of claim 17 , wherein the co-medium further comprises propylene glycol, glycerol, hexylene glycol, or combinations thereof.

19 . A latex composition comprising water and resin particles, wherein the resin particles comprise a polymerization product of reactants comprising:

one or more types of hydrophobic monomers; and

one or more types of anionic monomers comprising one or more types of crosslinkable anionic monomers, wherein a total amount of polymerized crosslinkable anionic monomers in the resin particles is at least about 1 weight % and a total amount of polymerized anionic monomers in the resin particles is at least about 15 weight %.
