Abstract

Guides, instruments, devices, systems and methods for maintaining, correcting and/or resurfacing the multiple bones of a joint are disclosed. The guide system includes a cut guide and an alignment guide for engagement with the cut guide. The guide system also includes a cleaning system with a guide and a cutting instrument. Methods of using the guide system and cleaning system are also disclosed.

Claims (36)

1 . A cut guide, comprising:

a first side opposite a second side, a first end opposite a second end, and a top surface opposite a bottom surface, wherein the cut guide comprises a first curvature between the first end and the second end;

a base portion;

a first arm extending away from the base portion in a first direction and a second arm extending away from the base portion in a second direction; and

a laterally enclosed slot positioned longitudinally between the first arm and the second arm and wherein the slot extends at least partially between the first side and the second side.

2 . The cut guide of claim 1 , further comprising a second curvature.

3 . The cut guide of claim 2 , wherein the second curvature is disposed between the first side and the second side.

4 . The cut guide of claim 3 , wherein at least one of the first curvature and the second curvature are configured to facilitate placement on or adjacent to one or more bones.

5 . The cut guide of claim 1 , wherein the top surface comprises a convex geometry and the bottom surface comprises a concave geometry.

6 . The cut guide of claim 1 , wherein the base portion comprises one or more curved outer edges on at least one of the first side and the second side.

7 . The cut guide of claim 6 , wherein the one or more curved outer edges comprises a first curved outer edge on the first side of the cut guide and a second curved outer edge on the second side of the cut guide.

8 . The cut guide of claim 7 , wherein the first curved outer edge and the second curved outer edge extend from the first and second sides of the cut guide in substantially opposite directions.

9 . The cut guide of claim 8 , wherein the first arm and the second arm are integral with the base portion.

10 . The cut guide of claim 9 , wherein the first arm and the second arm extend from the base portion in opposite directions from one another.

11 . The cut guide of claim 10 , wherein the first arm and the second arm are positioned on the first end and second end of the base portion, respectively.

12 . The cut guide of claim 11 , wherein the first arm and second arm comprise a first end and a second end, wherein the first end of each arm is substantially opposite from the second end of each arm, wherein the first arm is integral with the base portion of the cut guide, and wherein the second arm is integral with the base portion of the cut guide.

13 . The cut guide of claim 12 , wherein the first arm and second arm comprise at least one aperture positioned at the second end thereof, wherein the at least one aperture extends from the top surface through to the bottom surface of the cut guide.

14 . The cut guide of claim 13 , wherein the slot is laterally enclosed disposed in the base portion of the cut guide, wherein the laterally enclosed slot extends from the top surface of the cut guide through to the bottom surface of the cut guide and comprises a substantially elongated geometry.

15 . The cut guide of claim 14 , wherein the laterally enclosed slot extends across the cut guide from the first side adjacent the first curved outer edge to the second side adjacent the second curved outer edge.

16 . The cut guide of claim 15 , further comprising an extension member extending away from the bottom surface of the cut guide, wherein the laterally enclosed slot is within a footprint of the extension member.

17 . The cut guide of claim 16 , wherein the extension member is tapered as it extends away from the bottom surface of the cut guide and comprises a conical geometry with an elliptical or oval cross-section.

18 . A cut guide, comprising:

a first side opposite a second side, a first end opposite a second end, and a top surface opposite a bottom surface, wherein the guide comprises a first curvature between the first end and the second end;

a base portion;

a first arm extending away from the base portion in a first direction and a second arm extending away from the base portion in a second direction;

a first curved edge and a second curved edge, wherein each of the curved edges are positioned between the first arm and the second arm;

an opening extending from the top surface through to the bottom surface of the cut guide, wherein the opening extends at least partially between the first curved edge and the second curved edge; and

an extension member extending away from the bottom surface of the cut guide and comprising a tapered geometry, wherein the opening is positioned within a footprint of the extension member, and wherein the opening has an oval or elliptical cross-section.

19 . The cut guide of claim 18 , wherein the opening is tapered from an upper portion adjacent the top surface of the cut guide to a lower portion adjacent the bottom surface of the cut guide.

20 . A cut guide, comprising:

a first side opposite a second side, a first end opposite a second end, and a top surface opposite a bottom surface, wherein the guide comprises a first curvature between the first end and the second end;

a base portion;

a first arm extending away from the base portion in a first direction and a second arm extending away from the base portion in a second direction, wherein each of the first and second arms comprise at least one opening at a terminal end thereof, wherein each of the at least one openings extend from the top surface though to the bottom surface;

a first curved edge and a second curved edge, wherein each of the curved edges are positioned between the first arm and the second arm;

an opening extending through the base portion from the top surface through to the bottom surface of the cut guide, wherein the opening of the base portion extends at least partially between the first curved edge and the second curved edge and comprises a greater lateral dimension adjacent the top surface than adjacent the bottom surface; and

an extension member extending away from the bottom surface of the cut guide and comprising a tapered geometry and an elliptical cross-section, wherein the opening of the base portion is positioned within a footprint of the extension member.
