Abstract

Systems and methods for coding and decoding are provided. A method includes encoding a video stream including video data partitioned into a plurality of layers, wherein the encoding includes determining whether a first picture of the video stream is to be output based on a syntax element that indicates a mode of output layer set signaling.

Claims (24)

1. A method performed by at least one processor, the method comprising:

receiving a video bitstream including video data comprising a first picture having a plurality of layers and a single syntax element that indicates a mode of output layer set signaling; and

determining whether the first picture is to be output based on the single syntax element,

wherein the determining comprises determining that the first picture is not to be output based on the single syntax element indicating the mode of output layer set signaling, and

wherein the mode of output layer set signaling indicates that:

a total number of output layer sets specified by a parameter set is equal to a maximum allowed number of layers in each coded video sequence of a coded video stream referring to the parameter set, an i-th output layer set from among the output layer sets includes layers with layer indices from 0 to i, inclusive, and for each output layer set among the output layer sets, only a highest layer in each output layer set is to be output, or

the total number of the output layer sets specified by the parameter set is explicitly signalled, output layers of the output layer sets specified by the parameter set are explicitly signaled, and at least one of the output layers has a reference layer.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the parameter set is a video parameter set.

3. A method performed by at least one processor, the method comprising:

setting a value for a single syntax element indicating whether a first picture is to be output,

wherein when the first picture is not to be output, the single syntax element indicates a mode of output layer set signaling, and

wherein the mode of output layer set signaling indicates that:

a total number of output layer sets specified by a parameter set is equal to a maximum allowed number of layers in each coded video sequence of a coded video stream referring to the parameter set, an i-th output layer set from among the output layer sets includes layers with layer indices from 0 to i, inclusive, and for each output layer set among the output layer sets, only a highest layer in the output layer set is to be output, or

the total number of the output layer sets specified by the parameter set is explicitly signalled, output layers of the output layer sets specified by the parameter set are explicitly signaled, and at least one of the output layers has a reference layer; and

encoding a video bitstream including video data comprising the first picture having a plurality of layers and the single syntax element indicating the mode of output layer set signaling.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the parameter set is a video parameter set.

5. The method of claim 3 , wherein the method further comprises setting a respective subpicture layer identifier for each layer of each output layer set among the output layer sets, and wherein the encoding further comprises encoding the respective subpicture layer identifier for each layer of each output layer set.

6. A method of processing visual media data, the method comprising:

performing a conversion between a visual media file and a bitstream of a visual media data according to a format rule, wherein the bitstream comprises a first picture having a plurality of layers and a single syntax element that indicates a mode of output layer set signaling,

wherein the first picture is to be output is based on the single syntax element, and

wherein the mode of output layer set signaling indicates that:

a total number of output layer sets specified by a parameter set is equal to a maximum allowed number of layers in each coded video sequence of a coded video stream referring to the parameter set, an i-th output layer set from among the output layer sets includes layers with layer indices from 0 to i, inclusive, and for each output layer set among the output layer sets, only a highest layer in each output layer set is to be output, or

the total number of the output layer sets specified by the parameter set is explicitly signalled, output layers of the output layer sets specified by the parameter set are explicitly signaled, and at least one of the output layers has a reference layer.

7. The method of claim 6 , wherein the parameter set is a video parameter set.
