Abstract

A cartridge includes a drum unit and a development unit. The drum unit includes a photosensitive drum, a frame, a transfer roller, and a cleaning member. The development unit includes a development roller, and a memory. The cleaning member is configured to come into contact with the photosensitive drum at a region between a development nip portion and a transfer nip portion in a circumferential direction of the photosensitive drum and at an end portion of the photosensitive drum in a direction of the rotational axis. The frame has an exposing hole through which the memory is exposed from the frame, and a recessed portion that is adjacent to the exposing hole in the direction of the rotational axis, and stores foreign matters removed from the photosensitive drum by the cleaning member.

Claims (32)

1. A process cartridge comprising:

a development cartridge including a development container configured to accommodate a toner, a development roller configured to rotate around a first rotational axis extending in a first direction, and a development memory having a development electric contact surface; and

a drum cartridge including a drum frame to which the development cartridge is detachably mounted, a photosensitive drum configured to rotate around a second rotational axis extending in the first direction, a drum memory having a drum electric contact surface, and an operation lever configured to move a part of the development cartridge in a direction away from the drum frame,

wherein in a state where the development cartridge is mounted to the drum frame,

both the development electric contact surface and the drum electric contact surface are located on a side of a first end portion of the process cartridge in the first direction,

the operation lever is located on a side of a second end portion opposite to the first end portion of the process cartridge in the first direction.

2. The process cartridge according to claim 1 ,

wherein the development electric contact surface is located in one end portion of the development cartridge on a side of the first end portion of the process cartridge in the first direction,

wherein the drum electric contact surface is located in one end portion of the drum frame on a side of the first end portion of the process cartridge in the first direction, and

wherein the operation lever is located in the other end portion of the drum frame on a side of the second end portion of the process cartridge in the first direction.

3. The process cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein the development electric contact surface is provided on a gear cover provided on an outer surface of the development container.

The process cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein in the state where the development cartridge is mounted to the drum frame, the development electric contact surface is located between the development roller and the drum electric contact surface in a second direction intersecting the first direction.

5. The process cartridge according to claim 4 , wherein the drum electric contact surface and the development electric contact surface face a third direction intersecting the first direction and the second direction.

6. The process cartridge according to claim 4 , wherein the drum cartridge further includes a transfer roller configured to come into contact with the photosensitive drum and to align with the photosensitive drum in a third direction intersecting the first direction and the second direction.

7. The process cartridge according to claim 6 , wherein the development electric contact surface is located between the drum electric contact surface and a rotational axis of the transfer roller in the third direction.

8. The process cartridge according to claim 6 , wherein in the state where the development cartridge is mounted to the drum frame,

the drum cartridge further includes:

a first pressing member configured to press one end portion of the development container on a side of the first end portion of the process cartridge in the first direction so as to press the development roller toward the photosensitive drum; and

a second pressing member configured to press the other end portion of the development container on a side of the second end portion of the process cartridge in the first direction so as to press the development roller toward the photosensitive drum,

wherein the drum electric contact surface is located on a side opposite to the second pressing member with respect to the first pressing member in the first direction.

9. The process cartridge according to claim 8 , wherein the operation lever is located on a side opposite to the first pressing member with respect to the second pressing member in the first direction.

10. The process cartridge according to claim 1 ,

wherein the development cartridge includes a rotatable development coupling configured to receive a driving force from an outside of the process cartridge so as to drive the development roller,

wherein in the state where the development cartridge is mounted to the drum frame, the development coupling is located on a side opposite to the operation lever with respect to the development container of the development cartridge in the first direction.

11. The process cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein the drum electric contact surface is provided on an outer surface of the drum frame.

12. The process cartridge according to claim 1 ,

wherein the process cartridge is detachably attached to an apparatus body of an image forming apparatus, and

wherein in the state where the process cartridge is attached to the apparatus body, the development electric contact surface is located between the development roller and the drum electric contact surface in a gravity direction.

13. The process cartridge according to claim 1 ,

wherein the process cartridge is detachably attached to an apparatus body of an image forming apparatus,

wherein the drum frame includes a guided portion configured to guide the process cartridge to the apparatus body in a case where the process cartridge is attached to the apparatus body, the guided portion protruding from an end surface of the drum frame on a side of the second end portion of the process cartridge in the first direction, and

wherein in a state where the process cartridge is attached to the apparatus body, the guided portion is located between the development roller and the drum electric contact surface in a second direction intersecting the first direction.
