Abstract

What is disclosed is a wearable appliance that includes a housing adapted to fit in an ear of a user, an optical transmitter disposed in the housing, an optical receiver disposed in the housing, a wireless network communication device disposed in the housing, an accelerometer disposed in the housing, a microphone disposed in the housing, and a speaker disposed in the housing.

Claims (18)

1 . A wearable appliance, comprising:

a housing adapted to fit in an ear of a user;

an optical transmitter disposed in the housing;

an optical receiver disposed in the housing;

a wireless network communication device disposed in the housing;

an accelerometer disposed in the housing;

a microphone disposed in the housing; and

a speaker disposed in the housing.

2 . The wearable appliance of claim 1 , wherein the wireless network communication device is a Bluetooth® transceiver.

3 . The wearable appliance of claim 1 , further comprising:

a temperature sensor.

4 . The wearable appliance of claim 1 , further comprising:

a physiological sensor.

5 . The wearable appliance of claim 1 , further comprising:

a processor disposed in the housing.

6 . The wearable appliance of claim 1 , further comprising:

a push-button disposed on the housing.

7 . The wearable appliance of claim 1 , wherein the wireless network communication device is adapted to communicate with a cellular phone.
