Abstract

A tonneau cover assembly located over the cargo bed of a truck is provided. The tonneau cover assembly includes a base panel that extends over the cargo bed of the truck. The tonneau cover also includes at least one cover section that selectively shrouds the cargo bed and is located adjacent the base panel. The tonneau cover assembly includes either one or both a tie-down block assembly and/or a tether assembly.

Claims (33)

1 . A tie-down block assembly for use on a tonneau cover assembly that selectively covers a cargo bed of a truck, the tie-down block assembly comprising:

a block having an arm that extends from the block;

wherein the arm includes a hook that extends therefrom;

wherein the hook is spaced apart from the block; and

a bolt that includes a bolthead and a shaft extending from the bolthead such that the bolthead is wider than a diameter of the shaft;

wherein the bolthead of the bolt is configured to fit in an opening of the tonneau cover assembly;

wherein the shaft of the bolt is disposed in the block;

wherein a portion of the block is configured to abut a surface of a portion of the tonneau cover assembly;

wherein the hook is engageable with a structure that is selected from the group consisting at least at one of the tonneau cover assembly and a cargo box of the truck; and

wherein the block includes a channel that extends along a top of the block, wherein the channel is configured to abut the surface of the portion of the tonneau cover assembly.

2 . The tie-down block assembly of claim 1 , further comprising a threaded knob that engages threads on the shaft of the bolt and engages the block of the tie-down block assembly.

3 . The tie-down block assembly of claim 1 , wherein the shaft of the bolt is disposed through the block.

4 . A tonneau cover assembly that selectively covers a cargo bed of a truck, the tonneau cover assembly comprising:

a tie-down assembly which includes:

a block having an arm that extends from the block;

wherein the arm includes a hook that extends therefrom;

wherein the hook is spaced apart from the block; and

a bolt that includes a bolthead and a shaft extending from the bolthead such that the bolthead is wider than a diameter of the shaft;

wherein the bolthead of the bolt is configured to fit in an opening of the tonneau cover assembly;

wherein the shaft of the bolt is disposed in the block;

wherein a portion of the block is configured to abut a surface of a portion of the tonneau cover assembly; and

wherein the hook is engageable with a structure that is selected from the group consisting at least at one of the tonneau cover assembly and a cargo box of the truck;

wherein the block includes a channel that extends along a top of the block, wherein the channel is configured to abut the surface of the portion of the tonneau cover assembly; and

a tether assembly which includes:

a tether hook that is selectively engageable with the structure that is selected from the group consisting at least at one of the tonneau cover assembly and the cargo box of the truck;

a bracket configured to attach to the tonneau cover assembly; and

a strap that is attached to the tether hook and the bracket.

5 . The tonneau cover assembly of claim 4 , wherein the strap is made of a flexible material.

6 . The tonneau cover assembly of claim 4 , wherein the tether hook is attached to a first end of the strap.

7 . The tonneau cover assembly of claim 4 , wherein the bracket that is configured to attach to the tonneau cover assembly is configured to attach to at least one frame member of the tonneau cover assembly and attach to a second end of the strap.

8 . The tonneau cover assembly of claim 4 , further comprising a threaded knob that engages threads on the shaft of the bolt and engages the block of the tie-down assembly.

9 . The tonneau cover assembly of claim 4 , wherein the shaft of the bolt is disposed through the block.

10 . The tonneau cover assembly of claim 4 , wherein the portion of the block that is configured to abut the surface of the portion of the tonneau cover assembly is configured to abut an underside surface of the portion of the tonneau cover assembly.
