Abstract

A device and a method for introducing a drone to an area of interest are presented. The delivery system may include a housing, a drone, either a timer or a receiver, a lock mechanism, and a biasing mechanism. The housing further includes a pair of parts with or without subparts. At least one sensor is attached to the drone. The timer or the receiver is secured to the housing and communicable with the lock mechanism to control function thereof. The lock mechanism is adapted to releasably secure the parts or the subparts. The drone is enclosed within the housing in a CLOSED configuration when the lock mechanism is locked. The biasing mechanism separates the parts or the subparts to an OPEN configuration when the lock mechanism is unlocked. The drone is introducible to the area of interest in the CLOSED configuration and separable from the housing in the OPEN configuration.

Claims (53)

1. A method of use for a drone delivery system comprising the steps of:

(a) accelerating a housing in a CLOSED configuration during a delay, said delay implemented by a timer secured to said housing, said timer communicable with a lock mechanism, said housing includes a pair of parts disposed about a drone, one said part includes a pair of subparts, said housing surrounding said drone in said CLOSED configuration;

(b) actuating said lock mechanism to release said subparts from one another after said delay, said lock mechanism locked before said actuating step, said lock mechanism unlocked after said actuating step;

(c) separating said subparts via a biasing mechanism after said actuating step so that said housing is in an OPEN configuration, said housing not surrounding said drone in said OPEN configuration;

(d) moving said drone from said housing in said OPEN configuration; and

(e) obtaining a data from a sensor secured to said drone.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein said accelerating step implemented by launching said housing.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein said accelerating step implemented by throwing said housing.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein said accelerating step implemented by rolling said housing.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein said housing directed toward an area of interest in said accelerating step.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein said parts being hemispherical shaped.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein said delay initiated via communicating power to said timer.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein said delay initiated via a switch.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein said actuating step implementable via a controller.

10. The method of claim 1 , wherein a receiver communicable with said lock mechanism.

11. The method of claim 10 , wherein said receiver communicable with a controller.

12. The method of claim 1 , wherein each said subpart of one said part hingedly attached to other said part.

13. The method of claim 12 , wherein each said subpart rotatably attached to said part via a leaf.

14. The method of claim 1 , wherein said moving step implemented by flying said drone.

15. The method of claim 1 , wherein said moving step implemented by moving said drone along a surface.

16. The method of claim 1 , wherein said moving step implementable via a controller.

17. The method of claim 1 , wherein said data pertaining to a sound.

18. The method of claim 1 , wherein said data pertaining to an image.

19. The method of claim 1 , wherein said data pertaining to a video.

20. The method of claim 1 , wherein said data pertaining to a sample.

21. The method of claim 1 , wherein said data pertaining to a temperature.

22. The method of claim 1 , wherein said data pertaining to a pressure.

23. The method of claim 1 , wherein said data pertaining to a voltage.

24. The method of claim 1 , wherein said data pertaining to a current.

25. The method of claim 1 , wherein said data pertaining to a radiation.

26. The method of claim 1 , said data received directly from said drone.

27. The method of claim 1 , said data received indirectly from said drone.

28. The method of claim 1 , wherein said sensor being a camera.

29. The method of claim 28 , wherein said camera aligned with a port through said housing.

30. The method of claim 1 , wherein said lock mechanism includes a pin along one said subpart movable with respect to a slot along other said subpart, said lock mechanism unlocked when said pin not disposed within said slot and locked when said pin disposed within said slot.

31. The method of claim 1 , wherein said lock mechanism includes a solenoid at one said subpart which lockingly engages other said subpart.

32. The method of claim 1 , wherein said lock mechanism includes a servo motor at one said subpart which lockingly engages other said subpart.

33. The method of claim 1 , wherein said biasing mechanism includes a biasing element, said subpart movable via said biasing element fixed at one end to said subpart and slidably disposed at another end within a channel through other said part, said biasing element disposed along said housing in said CLOSED configuration.

34. The method of claim 1 , wherein one said part includes a well with a ballast therein.

35. The method of claim 1 , wherein said drone secured to said part via a tether.

36. The method of claim 35 , wherein a power communicated to said drone via said tether.

37. The method of claim 35 , wherein a command communicated to said drone via said tether.

38. The method of claim 35 , wherein said data communicated from said drone via said tether.

39. The method of claim 1 , wherein said housing includes at least one protrusion outwardly extending therefrom.
