Abstract

Vegetable oil compositions, as an example, corn oil, having an elevated lower alkyl ester content above about 7% weight percent of the total weight of the oil composition, and uses thereof are provided.

Claims (8)

1. A corn oil with a fatty acid ethyl ester content expressed as a percentage w/w based on the total weight of the corn oil composition; a free fatty acid content including at least one fatty acid selected from the group consisting of C16 palmitic, C18 stearic, C18-1 oleic, C18-2 linloleic, and C18-3 linolenic; and a dynamic viscosity measured at 25° C. wherein the corn oil composition exhibits a relationship between the percentage of the fatty acid ethyl ester content expressed as a w/w percentage of the total weight of the corn oil composition and dynamic viscosity at 25° C. such that the dynamic viscosity corresponding to a 60% fatty acid ethyl ester content is approximately 31% or less that corresponding to a 8.5% fatty acid ethyl ester content.

2. The corn oil of claim 1 , wherein the dynamic viscosity corresponding to a 12% fatty acid ethyl ester content is approximately 85% or less that corresponding to a 8.5% fatty acid ethyl ester content.

3. The corn oil of claim 1 , wherein the dynamic viscosity corresponding to a 18.5% fatty acid ethyl ester content is approximately 70% or less that corresponding to a 8.5% fatty acid ethyl ester content.

4. The corn oil of claim 1 , wherein the dynamic viscosity corresponding to a 24% fatty acid ethyl ester content is approximately 63% or less that corresponding to a 8.5% fatty acid ethyl ester content.

5. The corn oil of claim 1 , wherein the dynamic viscosity at 25° C. is 20 to 60 cP.

6. The corn oil of claim 1 , wherein the fatty acid ethyl ester content includes at least one ethyl ester from the group consisting of ethyl palmitate, ethyl stearate, ethyl oleate, ethyl linoleate, and ethyl linolenate.

7. The corn oil of claim 1 , wherein the ethyl ester content is 10% w/w to 60% w/w of the total weight of the corn oil.

8. The corn oil of claim 1 , wherein the corn oil is a distiller's corn oil obtained from a fermentation residue of corn and wherein the fermentation is conducted in the presence of yeast and a composition including an exogenous esterase in an amount and under conditions which produce ethanol and the corn oil and wherein the corn oil has an increased ethyl ester content and lower viscosity as compared to a corn oil obtained from a process that does not include the exogenous esterase during fermentation.
