Abstract

A device may be configured to decode video data based on information included in a source picture timing information message. In one example, a source picture timing information message includes a syntax element specifying a maximum number of temporal sublayers. In one example, a source picture timing information message includes instances of a syntax element specifying a scale factor used in determining the source picture interval of corresponding consecutive pictures in output order for each of the maximum number of temporal sublayers other than a highest of the maximum number of temporal sublayers.

Claims (15)

1 . A method of decoding video data, the method comprising:

receiving a source picture timing information message;

parsing a first flag in the source picture timing information message, wherein the first flag indicates whether a timing of source pictures is the same as a timing of corresponding decoded output pictures;

parsing a first syntax element in the source picture timing information message when the first flag indicates the timing of source pictures is not the same as the timing of corresponding decoded output pictures, wherein the first syntax element indicates a timing relationship between source pictures and corresponding decoded output pictures according to a set of defined source types;

parsing a second syntax element in the source picture timing information message, immediately following the first syntax element, when the first flag indicates the timing of source pictures is not the same as the timing of corresponding decoded output pictures, wherein the second syntax element specifies a number of time units that pass in one second;

parsing a third syntax element in the source picture timing information message, wherein the third syntax element plus one specifies a maximum number of temporal sublayers; and

parsing a fourth syntax element in the source picture timing information message for each integer in a range of 0 to a value of the third syntax element , wherein the fourth syntax element specifies a scale factor used in determining a source picture interval of corresponding consecutive pictures in output order.

2 . A device comprising one or more processors configured to:

receive a source picture timing information message;

parse a first flag in the source picture timing information message, wherein the first flag indicates whether a timing of source pictures is the same as a timing of corresponding decoded output pictures;

parse a first syntax element in the source picture timing information message when the first flag indicates the timing of source pictures is not the same as the timing of corresponding decoded output pictures, wherein the first syntax element indicates a timing relationship between source pictures and corresponding decoded output pictures according to a set of defined source types;

parse a second syntax element in the source picture timing information message, immediately following the first syntax element, when the first flag indicates the timing of source pictures is not the same as the timing of corresponding decoded output pictures, wherein the second syntax element specifies a number of time units that pass in one second;

parse a third syntax element in the source picture timing information message, wherein the third syntax element plus one specifies a maximum number of temporal sublayers; and

parse a fourth syntax element in the source picture timing information message for each integer in a range of 0 to a value of the third syntax element , wherein the fourth syntax element specifies a scale factor used in determining a source picture interval of corresponding consecutive pictures in output order.

3 . The device of claim 2 , wherein the device includes a video decoder.
