Abstract

A process for performing a sidelink (SL) communication includes determining a configuration, for a communication zone of a set of communication zones, the configuration being indicative of at least one a resource configuration or at least one signaling configuration for a communication of data. The process includes generating SL control information (SCI) that indicates a transmitter (TX) location based on the configuration of the communication zone of the set of communication zones. The process includes communicating the SCI indicating the TX location.

Claims (29)

1. A method for performing a sidelink (SL) communication, the method comprising:

decoding, a SL-Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) configuration information element (IE) that includes a set of parameters that define one or more communication zones and at least one resource or signaling configuration for a communication of data;

identifying, based on the set of parameters and from among the one or more communication zones, a communication zone associated with a user equipment; and

configuring a transmission to a remote device using a communication resource selected from a resource pool associated with the communication zone.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the communication zone associated with the user equipment is configured for a V2X UE, and wherein different zone configurations indicate different resource configurations including the at least one resource configuration or different signaling configurations including the at least one signaling configuration.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the set of parameters specify a width of the communication zone and a length of the communication zone.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the set of parameters specify a number of the communication zones configured with respect to a longitude and a number of the communication zones configured with respect to a latitude.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the user equipment includes a transmitting user equipment located in the communication zone.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the SL-V2X configuration IE defines a Radio Resource Control (RRC) IE for all available RRC configuration parameters.

7. The method of claim 6 , wherein, when the RRC IE defines a single communication zone, a sidelink control information (SCI) field indicates a zone index based on the configuration for the single communication zone.

8. The method of claim 6 , wherein, when the RRC IE defines a plurality of communication zones, a sidelink control information (SCI) field indicates all zone indices associated with a list of zone configurations, wherein a length of the SCI field is based on the zone configurations of the list of zone configurations.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the SL-(V2X) configuration IE specifies a maximum number of zone configurations.

10. The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more communication zones includes a plurality of communication zones, and wherein the plurality of communication zones include a hierarchical configuration.

11. The method of claim 10 , wherein the plurality of communication zones of the hierarchical configuration include at least three different sizes.

12. The method of claim 10 , wherein the plurality of communication zones of the hierarchical configuration include lengths or widths selected from value of: 5 meters, 10 meters, 20 meters, 50 meters, 100 meters, 200 meters, or 500 meters.

13. A processor configured to, when executing instructions stored in a memory, perform operations for a sidelink (SL) communication, the operations comprising:

decoding, a SL-Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) configuration information element (IE) that includes a set of parameters that define one or more communication zones and at least one resource or signaling configuration for a communication of data;

identifying, based on the set of parameters and from among the one or more communication zones, a communication zone associated with a user equipment; and

configuring a transmission to a remote device using a communication resource selected from a resource pool associated with the communication zone.

14. The processor of claim 13 , wherein the communication zone associated with the user equipment is configured for a V2X UE, and wherein different zone configurations indicate different resource configurations including the at least one resource configuration or different signaling configurations including the at least one signaling configuration.

15. The processor of claim 13 , wherein the set of parameters specify a width of the communication zone and a length of the communication zone.

16. The processor of claim 13 , wherein the set of parameters specify a number of the communication zones configured with respect to a longitude and a number of the communication zones configured with respect to a latitude.

17. The processor of claim 13 , wherein the user equipment includes a transmitting user equipment located in the communication zone.

18. The processor of claim 13 , wherein the SL-V2X configuration IE defines a Radio Resource Control (RRC) IE for all available RRC configuration parameters.

19. The processor of claim 18 , wherein, when the RRC IE defines a plurality of communication zones, a sidelink control information (SCI) field indicates all zone indices associated with a list of zone configurations, wherein a length of the SCI field is based on the zone configurations of the list of zone configurations.

20. A user equipment configured to perform operations for a sidelink (SL) communication, the operations comprising:

decoding, a SL-Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) configuration information element (IE) that includes a set of parameters that define one or more communication zones and at least one resource or signaling configuration for a communication of data;

identifying, based on the set of parameters and from among the one or more communication zones, a communication zone associated with the user equipment; and

generating, using a communication resource selected from a resource pool associated with the communication zone, data for transmission to a remote device.
