Abstract

Systems and methods are described herein for updating search results based on a user's comment or a conversation among users using a media guidance application. A set of search results may be presented to a user or users. Comments or a conversation about the search results may be analyzed by the media guidance application. Selected comments by a user determined to have a greater weight may be used to update the search results.

Claims (69)

1. A method comprising:

capturing, using a control circuitry, first voice inputs from a first user and second voice inputs from a second user;

identifying a first list of keywords based on the first voice inputs from the first user and a second list of keywords based on the second voice inputs from the second user;

identifying a common keyword that is including in both the first list of keywords and the second list of keywords;

generating for display:

a list of media asset identifiers selected based on the first list of keywords and the second list of keywords;

the first list of keywords;

a first icon, representing the first user, adjacent to each keyword of the first list of keywords;

the second list of keywords;

a second icon, representing the second user, adjacent to each keyword of the second list of keywords; and

a selectable option for each keyword of the first list of keywords and the second list of keywords;

receiving a selection of at least one selectable option;

retrieving an updated list of media asset identifiers based on the selection of the at least one selectable option; and

updating the list of media asset identifiers generated for display based on the updated list of media asset identifiers.

2. The method of claim 1 , the method further comprising:

generating for display the first icon and the second icon adjacent to the common keyword, wherein the selectable option for the common keyword is displayed for each of the first user and the second user for the common keyword.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving, using the control circuitry, a deselect command for the selectable option of a keyword; and

updating the list of media asset identifiers based on the received deselect command.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the deselect command is applied to all of the first list of keywords or to all of the second list of keywords.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the list of media asset identifiers is based on a respective weight assigned to each of the first user and the second user.

6. The method of claim 5 , further comprising:

adjusting, using the control circuitry, the respective weight assigned to each of the first user and the second user based on the first voice inputs and the second voice inputs; and

updating the list of media asset identifiers based on the adjusted respective weights.

7. The method of claim 6 , further comprising:

detecting voice pattern profiles of the first user and the second user based on the first voice inputs and the second voice inputs;

identifying the first user and the second user based on the detected voice pattern profiles;

adjusting the respective weight assigned to each of the first user and the second user based on the detected voice pattern profiles; and

updating the list of media asset identifiers based on the adjusted respective weights.

8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the selectable option includes an option to exclude the first list of keywords of the first user or the second list of keywords of the second user based on the detected voice pattern profiles.

9. The method of claim 6 , further comprising:

determining that the first list of keywords or the second list of keywords include a deferential term attributed to the first user; and

in response to determining that the first list of keywords or the second list of keywords include the deferential term attributed to the first user, updating the list of media asset identifiers by assigning more weight to the second user.

10. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first list of keywords or second list of keywords include one of: a content title, an actor, a director, a content genre, and a content type.

11. A system comprising:

circuitry configured to:

capture, using a control circuitry, first voice inputs from a first user and second voice inputs from a second user;

identify a first list of keywords based on the first voice inputs from the first user and a second list of keywords based on the second voice inputs from the second user;

identify a common keyword that is including in both the first list of keywords and the second list of keywords;

generate for display:

a list of media asset identifiers selected based on the first list of keywords and the second list of keywords;

the first list of keywords;

a first icon, representing the first user, adjacent to each keyword of the first list of keywords;

the second list of keywords;

a second icon, representing the second user, adjacent to each keyword of the second list of keywords; and

a selectable option for each keyword of the first list of keywords and the second list of keywords;

receive a selection of at least one selectable option;

retrieve an updated list of media asset identifiers based on the selection of the at least one selectable option; and

update the list of media asset identifiers generated for display based on the updated list of media asset identifiers.

12. The system of claim 11 , the circuitry further configured to:

Generate for display the first icon and the second icon adjacent to the common keyword, wherein the selectable option for the common keyword is displayed for each of the first user and the second user for the common keyword.

13. The system of claim 11 , the circuitry further configured to:

receive, using the control circuitry, a deselect command for the selectable option of a keyword; and

update the list of media asset identifiers based on the received deselect command.

14. The system of claim 13 , wherein the deselect command is applied to all of the first list of keywords or to all of the second list of keywords.

15. The system of claim 11 , wherein the list of media asset identifiers is based on a respective weight assigned to each of the first user and the second user.

16. The system of claim 15 , the circuitry further configured to:

adjust, using the control circuitry, the respective weight assigned to each of the first user and the second user based on the first voice inputs and the second voice inputs; and

update the list of media asset identifiers based on the adjusted respective weights.

17. The system of claim 16 , the circuitry further configured to:

detect voice pattern profiles of the first user and the second user based on the first voice inputs and the second voice inputs;

identify the first user and the second user based on the detected voice pattern profiles;

adjust the respective weight assigned to each of the first user and the second user based on the detected voice pattern profiles; and

update the list of media asset identifiers based on the adjusted respective weights.

18. The system of claim 17 , wherein the selectable option includes an option to exclude the first list of keywords of the first user or the second list of keywords of the second user based on the detected voice pattern profiles.

19. The system of claim 16 , the circuitry further configured to:

determine that the first list of keywords or the second list of keywords include a deferential term attributed to the first user; and

in response to determining that the first list of keywords or the second list of keywords include the deferential term attributed to the first user, update the list of media asset identifiers by assigning more weight to the second user.

20. The system of claim 11 , wherein the first list of keywords or second list of keywords include one of: a content title, an actor, a director, a content genre, and a content type.
